Kate watched silently out the window, watching the trees as they passed. Clint and her have been on the road for about 12 hours now and she was getting antsy. After getting an invite to her new mentor’s home for christmas, she graciously accepted. She didn’t have anyone else to spend the holiday with, and spending time with Clint’s family actually sounded really nice. Kate thought back to before she had met Yelena, how dull the world was compared to what she was seeing now, contemplating what to do with her situation. She hadn’t heard from the blonde since their scuffle, and Clint was no help either, no matter how many times she asked he wouldn’t tell her anything.
“How long till we get to your farm?” Kate asks, looking up from the window. “About four hours, kid,” Clint answers back. She playfully glares at him, “Don’t call me kid,” Kate pauses, “Old man,” she says smirking. He rolls his eyes playfully, a small smile on his face. “I just wanted to say thank you again for all your help, Clint.” She looks fully at him, “I would probably be dead right now if it hadn’t been for you,” He reaches over and tousles Kate's hair, slightly looking at her, “Of course, Kate, and I'm glad I did,” Clint looks back at the road ahead of them, “You’re a pretty great partner.”
Kate grins, feeling accepted for the first time in years. She turns back to the window, watching as they pass a green field, amazed by all the colors she is seeing, before slowly drifting to sleep.-Time skip-
“Wake up Kate, we’re here,” Clint says, shaking Kate slightly, trying to wake her up. She groans, swatting his hands away, “Five more minutes,” she mumbles quietly. Sinking back against the door. “Kate, if you don’t get out of this car in the next minute I will pour the rest of my water on you,” Clint says seriously, slightly annoyed with the situation. Kate's eyes fly open and she flings the door open, forgetting to unbuckle her seatbelt, trying desperately to escape the car. She stops and blinks, looking down at the strap holding her hostage and up at Clint, who isn't even trying to hold in his laughter.
Kate glares at him as she undos her seatbelt and finally steps out of the car. Her breath hitches as she sees the person waiting on the porch, the woman that has been on her mind since first sight, her soulmate. Yelena watches her closely as Kate stands there staring at her. Clint looks between the two, smiling softly at the look on his protoge’s face, the way she was slightly smiling at the blonde. “Katie Kate, I’ll get the bags, why don’t you go talk to her,” he says, snapping Kate out of her stupor.
She nods, slowly making her way to Yelena, anxiety almost radiating off of her. She didn’t know what to say, or do. How does she act around the blonde? Yelena stands up and meets Kate half way, looking up into the brunette's eyes. “You're here? Like really here? Not part of my brain playing tricks on me right?” Kate accidentally blurts out, face turning red as Yelena’s face turns into one of amusement. “Oh Kate Bishop, still funny as always I see,” she says, “Da, yes I am really here.” Kate, still embarrassed, just nods her head silently. They stand there for a couple minutes, just looking into eachothers eyes, not even needing to speak. Clint walks past them, grumbling about how heavy the bags were, pulling them out of their moment. “Clint let me help,” Kate says, taking a couple of the bags, Yelena following behind silently, as they all head inside.
