The summer had just started, I hated summer, it was too hot and the air was always sticky. But I hated it most of all because my birthday was in June. One good thing that came out of this dreadful season was it was time for try-out at Portridge, they did tryouts for all sports in the summer because the school is only for athletes. I performed well last season. The only thing more impressive than the team's stats are my individual stats. I made 27 goals last season, which was a record for me, and I only got ejected from 1 game. "Now I will call out the people who have made the team." Coach Walsh announced. There were over 50 people in the room, and less than half would not make the team, and essentially would have to go to a different school. I wasn't worried because I was one of the strongest players on the team last season. She was fifteen names in and was yet to say mine. "Sidney Schultz and lastly Elliana Ritter" I had been cut. "Coach Walsh, is there a reason I didn't make the team?" I was beyond embarrassed. "Yes actually, I was reached out to by Don Tibbles from Hendrix Hockey he was recruiting for Team USA and I recommend you." She smiled and all of my teammates came out with congratulations signs and flowers. "Are you kidding?" I cried. "Nope he will come to get you tomorrow." The team swarmed me with hugs and gifts. "You also have a press conference later." Walsh informed me. We shared our last group hug, I got deja vu from before I first came to school when Me, Corey, and Nick shared a group hug.

I sat looking at the crowd of reporters and photographers "Ms. Little, how do you feel about playing with team USA" A woman in a white pants-suit asked. "I am honored to have the opportunity to play with them." I say softly into the mic. " Where did the nickname 'West Coast Killer' come from?" A man asked. "Honestly I'm not sure, I am not even from the west coast, I'm from Minnesota." I laughed.

Adam's pov:

I shot the ball into a small net in the drive-way. "Hey cake-eater, wanna play some real hockey?" Jesse called out.I turned to see the ducks, well all of them except Fulton. "Yeah!" I exclaimed. "Hey baby!" Hayden planted a kiss on my cheek. "Hey," I smiled at my girlfriend of 5 months. "What happened to Genevieve?I haven't seen her around in a while." Connie asked. "My dad said she went to Portridge." I shrugged. "Like the sports academy?" Charlie exclaimed. "No way, she is probably in an insane asylum." Hayden laughed. I just shrugged again hoping someone else will say something about it. We skated through the park to find Fulton. Charlie blows his whistle to gain Fulton's attention. "Hey guys!" he exclaimed. He was huge, he had to be at least 5'11 and his voice was deeper. We all skated towards the dinner to meet up with Bombay, who had just gotten back from the minor league. "Hey ducks!" He greets us. A slick black car pulled up next to us. "Hi, I'm Don Tibbles with Hendrix Hockey Apparel." A man steps out the backseat of the car. "Anyone want a card?" He continued flashing his business cards. We all gathered around him to get one.

Once we got to the rink there were 6 new players, it looked like two girls and four boys by the length of their hair. "Tell me about my new kids!" Bombay exclaimed. A girl who wore the number '55' turned to talk to the other girl, who was a goalie. "First we have Luis Mendoza from our Miami club. A real speedster. Incredible skater." A boy with a blue and orange Miami jersey took off. "He is a good looking skater." Connie gushed. "I'd say." Hayden swooned. "Very good looking skater, let's see what the boyfriends have to say about this." Averman said in his sportscasting voice. "Shut up." Me and Guy said, pushing him. "There is just one problem, he has a little trouble stopping." Just as Tibbles said that he crashed into the boards. Everyone laughed, even Bombay let out a slight chuckle. Number 55 skated over to help him up. "Howdy, y'all ready to play some puck?" The boy's country accent was strong, "It's Hop-Along Gretzky!" Jesse laughed. "That's Daywne Robertson, from Austin." The cowboy began to show off his puck-handling skills. "He's a bit of a show boat,"Tibbles explained. "Next is Julie "The Cat" Gaffney, she led her team to the States three years in a row." He introduced the goalie. "We already have a goalie. Goldberg" Bombay reminded him. "Just look at this." Connie skated over then shot but Gaffney saved it, and I don't think Goldie would have. "Well we could always use a backup." Once again the two girls whispered to each other. "I'm glad there are going to be two more girls on the team." Connie smiled. "Isn't that the kid from the olympics? The figure skater?" Bombay asked. "Yup. Ken Wu. I convinced him hockey had more of a future." Tibbles said proudly. "Showtime!" A boy yelled from the sidelines. He was bigger than Fulton. "That guy's a teenager?" Bombay asked what we were all thinking. "Hormones I guess." Tibbles shrugged. He made is way onto the ice pushing us down one by one, I could already tell that we wouldn't be getting along. "He's a goon." Bombay spat. Tibbles informed him about the Iceland team and how we would need him. "And finally, she is best know as the West Coast Killer, The captian of Portridge Sports Academy's hockey team. She stats are off the walls." Tibbles inrtoduced the finaly girl. "Why is she called the West Coast Killer?" Charlie asked. "She gave 16 players concussions last season." Tibbles explained. "So she's a goon too." Hayden laughed, her laughter quickly died out seeing her shot sore right through the net. "Whoa that girl is strong." Guy said. Connie glared at him. "So who is she?" Charlie asked. "Genevieve Little." He announced. The whole team was silent for the first time today, even Bombay. She skated over and took her helmet off. "Hi ducks." She taunted. How did I not notice, sure her hair is longer but she was the only person I ever met with her shooting style. I have to say she was still as beautiful as she was when we first met. "Vie when did you get back?" Fulton asked, engulfing her in a bear hug. I wanted to do that, but we weren't friends, and it was all my fault. "So the temper tantrum princess is back in town?" Jesse sneered. She didn't even acknowledge his remark, which was surprising. "Maybe she isn't crazy anymore." Hayden whispered to me.

Genevieve's pov:

I stood across from the Ducks with the other new recruits, they were arguing back and forth. I was stand directly across from Hayden who was just spewing insults at me. "Stay away from Adam, he's my boyfriend." She spat. "If I wanted Adam I could get him easily." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah right?" She sneered. "You think he would chose you over a state champion?" I laughed.Though he already did but she didn't know that. "Damn!" Dean yelled instigating the situation, causing Fulton attention to shift to them. "Why don't you just run back to your prep school." She whined. "That can wait, I want to show everyone how much better I am then you, you know since I didn't get the chance to last year." I grinned. "That true," Fulton whispered as he had come to realization. "Well that's if Bombay got over himself in the minors and will actually let me play." I say loud enough for him to hear. "Don't talk about my coach like that." Hayden pushing me, that same way she did my last day on the Ducks. But unlike before I crunched my fist into her face, causing some of her blood to get on the knuckle. The ducks came straight to her aid. "Holy shit!" Both Fulton and Dean exclaimed. "Little off the ice, your done for the day." Bombay yelled. "Whatever." I muttered before leaving the ice. "Genny! Genny wait!" I knew that voice, I hate that voice. I stopped dead in my tracks. "Why do you think you can still call me that, huh?" I shout, I was still mad at him for what happened, the way we end anyone would be. "Look, I'm sorry, okay, we are on the same team, you have to forgive me, for the team." He sighed. I heard the footstep and knew the team was making their way towards us. "It's always about the team. You ruined our friendship of five fucking years for people you known for less than a month, Do you know how insane that is?" I scoffed. The team stayed quite wanting to hear all the drama. "You set me up with an impossible choice!" He yelled. "It's wasn't impossible, there was only one choice, me!" I raged, everything about him made my blood boil. "Over my team?" I rolled my eyes, having to re explain things to him. "No not over your team, just over Hayden. The girl you barely even fucking knew." Bombay and some lady came over to deescalate the argument. "What is going on?" The lady came in between us. "Nothing." I muttered before leaving the rink. "Wait!" The lady followed after, I obeyed . "That wasn't nothing," She turned to me indicating the she didn't know my name. "Genevieve," I sighed. "Genevieve, what is going on between you and that boy?" She asked. "It's a lot." I sighed. "Maybe we can talk about it tomorrow, you know with the three hour flight." she joked.

I walked into Mickey's Diner and looked around to find Nick and Corey. "Viv!" Nick waved me over to them. "Hey guys!" I hugged the two of them. There was a third one now, they replaced Adam, if only I could. I sat down next to Corey with Nick and the new kid on the other side. We talked about everything that happened since the last time we met seven months ago when my team came to play the Minnesota Devils. "Uh, here come the Ducks." Nick groaned. I rolled my eyes. As they walked by Fulton waved and I shot back a smile. "Seems like we aren't the only ones who replaced Adam." Corey teased me. I shock my head no with a smile. "I couldn't replace him if I tried." I sighed, looking over to catch a glimpse of him. "You love struck fool." Nick laughed. Our eyes met one another when Adam looked back at our table. This is going to be one hell of a summer.
