3rd person POV:
Space. It's so empty. No sound and no air. Only empty thoughts and objects that are meant to do nothing but float in the infinite universe. Yet, it's so beautiful in its silent nature.
Space is so gorgeous in it's aspect of giving life. Stars dying and being reborn just like humans on Earth, dying and being reborn. Just looking at the stars while your in space is pure bliss. It's almost like you're floating.
Morty crashed Rick's ship into an oncoming asteroid. Both of them got into a fight prior to this, causing Morty to steal his ship.
The aftermath: he was alone, lightyears away from Rick. The windshield smashed due to the impact of the speed of both objects.
Morty had already put on his helmet. All of the air was sucked out of the spaceship and he was completely vulnerable to the cold embrace of the universe.
At this point, he lay in acceptance of his fate to the dark emptiness.
He had no way to call Rick. He coincidentally left his phone at home.
Maybe this was meant to be. I mean, everything happens for a reason.. right?
Morty lets a tear fall off of his face. The droplet drifting from his eye as he watches it very gently run into the glass of his helmet. What was he to do?
He had hope that Rick cared enough to at least put some sort of tracking device in him.
Then again, he knew Rick didn't care.
He fell unconscious.
At The Smith Residence;
"What do you mean you don't know where he is?!" Beth screams, "You're the one always with him Dad!"
"I-I know sweetie but we- we got into a small altercation." Rick states with a light regret in his tone.
"You have to go find him, it can't be that hard to find him considering your ship has a million different tracking devices." Beth argues.
"Okay then, I- I will." He storms off to his garage, pull a few gadgets out.
"What?" He mumbles, "What the fuck do you mean program disabled." He blurts out.
The only time his equipment is unfindable is when it's severely damaged or he disabled it himself.
Rick started to worry.
A few minutes later.
"URGGGG" Rick growls in frustration. "What- What am I gonna do?"
Rick always comes up with something. He always has a solution. What's so different about it now?
Was it maybe because Morty completely disappeared? He could he dead right now for all Rick knows.
He's worried, scared even.
Eventually, the 1 hour mark hit. He finally found him. Tracked by his DNA. He quickly builds another vehicle to go manually find him, considering he was lightyears away in the middle of god knows where.
1 hour 30 minutes, no Morty in sight.
2 hours, worried.
3 hours, scared.
4 hours, Rick sees a glow in the distance. A flashing red light. Had he finally found him? After 4 hours of searching?Rick flies faster towards it, letting out a sigh of relief. He see's Morty levitating a little bit off of the spaceship seat, unconscious. Rick's heart drops faster and harder than it ever did before. He never believed that he could ever care for a person as much as he cared for Morty.
He was Rick's best friend, aside from Bird Person.
Rick pulled Morty into a warm embrace. Rick shook at the thought of their fight being the last conversation they would ever have.
Rick hooks his portal gun up to his makeshift spaceship and sets a course for home. He takes Morty inside, lays him out on his desk and checks every single vital he could possibly check.
Luckily, Morty was okay and he should wake up soon. Rick just waited. While consumed in his own thoughts, Morty's eyes flutter open as he looks around and spots Rick.
Rick snaps out of it and just stares at Morty. Morty notices his facial expression of worry and just lays back down in an awkward fashion.
"You're-You're probably exhausted Morty, try and get some sleep." Rick said in a soft voice.
"Am-Am I allowed to go to my room?" Morty asks.
"Yeah sure I guess, if you want."
Morty slowly gets up and heads for the door. But he stops and turns around.
He walks up to Rick and pulls him into a hug.
Rick is taken aback by this, he hasn't gotten a hug in a while. He hugs back and it lasts for a good couple minutes.
It feels like bliss, like someone actually loves him again.
It feels like floating in space.
