As Dante slid down the slope, he heard.. something. It sounded like a low growl and none too friendly. As soon as he reached the bottom of the slope, he whipped around, drawing Ivory, but whatever had made the noise vanished. "Strange," he muttered to himself. As he started walking through the village, which seemed deserted, he got the feeling he was being watched. He kept his head on a swivel, constantly checking behind him. As he neared the village center, he heard it; that roar, only this time closer. He found himself walking through what appeared to be the village center, only stopping at the sight of some kind of intricate door, only the faces of the the engravings were missing, with a knife impaling a note to it. The note read out:

To any and all survivors, get the hell out! Some kind of beasts have overrun the village, most people have already been killed! There's 2 engravings to open this fucking door, one is in the church, near the cemetery, and the other is near Luiza's house atop the hill! If you can, open this door, get to the castle, try to get help!

He folded the note, sticking it in a side pocket of his jacket. Might be useful later, he thought to himself. "Well, at least the cemetery is on the way to Luiza's", he said. He started walking in that direction, only to feel a hand grab his wrist. He jumped in surprise, turning around to face the would-be assailant, his other hand reaching for Ebony, only for it to turn out to be an elderly woman with a walking stick.
He contained his sudden fright, giving way to anger. "Who the hell are you, lady? Let go!" The old woman just chuckled, then she replied, "Well, well, aren't you a new face? I didn't think anyone was left, aside from those who would deny Mother Miranda's words. What brings you to our humble village?". "Who's Mother Miranda?", he asked. The old lady just laughed like a maniac and started hobbling away, speaking nonsense.

"Well, she was no help whatsoever. What kinda whackjob sneaks up on an armed man in broad daylight, only to walk away laughing like a maniac?", he asked himself, in an almost whisper. Pushing the thought aside he proceeded into the church where he immediately saw the emblem dead ahead, on an alter. Well, this was easy, he thought to himself. Now, to find Luiza's house. He quickly double-checked Morrison's letter, confirming what he thought he remembered, that her house was the one atop the hill, right next to the church, practically. As he started towards the house, he heard that growl again, this time practically right behind him. He whipped around, drawing Ivory. But what he saw made him pause. The thing before him looked like some kind of wolf/man hybrid, wielding an axe, and snarling like a feral dog.

The thing lunged at him, aiming to sink its teeth into his neck without hesitation. The only problem was that Dante didn't hesitate either. He pulled the trigger, letting loose a flurry of bullets, effectively blasting holes in the thing, sending it skidding a solid 5 feet. He holstered his gun, approaching to examine the creature. Whatever could've done this most certainly wasn't natural, he thought to himself. As he turned to continue towards Luiza's house, he stopped, seeing that while he was distracted, a northern dozen of those things had flanked him, that loud roar he'd heard earlier now very close. He drew Ebony and Ivory, gunning down lycans left and right, taking limbs off, blowing holes clear through skulls, and those who did get close experienced the raw physical power of the ex Devil Hunter, delivering kicks and pistol whipping these things with enough force to snap bones and send them flying a good 30 feet. A few minutes later, Dante crushed the skull of the last surviving Lucan underfoot. Wiping all the blood and guts off, he continued to Luiza's house, only to hear that roar again. As he turned around, he felt the earth shake. Before him was quite possibly the most impressive abomination he'd seen yet. The creature stood a whopping 10 to 11 feet and carried a hammer with a head the size of Dante's torso.
