Y/N POV

I must say I am really impressed at the excuse Chel used to keep Josh away, it's giving me enough time to prepare everything. Well, apart from the food and costumes, there doesn't seem to be a lot of work, I have decided to keep this party not so huge, rather with just us. The more the people, the messier it gets and everyone eventually splits into smaller groups. I feel it would be better if it's just the few of us laughing and having fun together.

Though I still despise the idea of dressing up as a platypus with a hat.

"How are things progressing?" Jennie popped her head into my room, while I was seated on the floor organizing my costume assets, I was currently cutting out the tail and the beak using an orange thick paper. I could very well see how difficult it was for Jennie to control her laughter looking at my state.

"Go on, you can laugh, it's a joke anyways." Hardly had I finished my sentence when she burst out laughing.
"I cannot imagine you wearing that... or wait, I can!" Saying this she closed her eyes pretending to 'imagine' me in that cosplay.

"Mean! Go away!" I threw a paper ball at her but she was quick to get away.
"Make sure your purple pants reach your chest!" I yelled.

It was around 6 in the evening when I was done and ready to leave for Josh's apartment. I went to Jennie's room to take a peek if she was done and ready to leave, of course she was.
Making sure we had taken all things necessary, we left home and made our way to the nearby bakery to first collect his birthday cake.
We planned on keeping the cake minimalistic, a plain pastel purple with frosting on the sides with "ur old now" using the same dark purple colour used for frosting on the top. We kept it chocolate flavour, because it was his favourite.

Pretty contrasting as compared to the colourful fun theme and decoration, I know, but we got to have something that shows that this is not, after all, a twelve year old's birthday.
I had one glance at the cake and loved it, I have always loved simple and minimal stuff. And pastel colours are so pretty.
We had to make a round to the store selling decoratives because we were yet to buy the "happy birthday" balloons.
We also bought a tub of butterscotch ice-cream for all of us on the way.
Almost forty minutes later, we were at the door of the birthday boy's apartment.

Even though I knew he must have left home by now, I knocked on the door somehow hesitant. The door opened and we were greeted by this very cute smile that has me rather hooked for past few days.

"Finally! Hop inside, Malcolm is already here, he came way earlier than you guys" He said, opening the door wider for us to enter.

"Yes and we were having good bro moments! Why did you girls have to come and ruin?" Malcolm commented. He was looking rather comfortable seating cross legged on the couch with a gaming console in his hands.

"Boys and their games, y'all can't spare extra 10 minutes without desperately wanting that controlling device in your hands, aggressively tapping and yelling into a screen." I made sure I could overtake him and his sarcasm, but seems like someone else took more offence to my statement rather than whom it was directed to.

"Ay come onnnn" whined Yeonjun who was standing near the cabinet getting out scissors and tape. "We love games and that's like the only break we get, don't insult gaming like that..."
I couldn't figure out whether I was wrong or was he actually using a cuter tone?

"Alright enough bickering" Jennie clapped her hands like she was a teacher, "we got ice cream!"
"Here, keep it in the freezer we'll get them out after we complete half the work" She stated handing it to Yeonjun.
