The initial consecration of the temple was in the late 11th century. Though it is currently used as a Shaiva temple dedicated to God Shiva, it is unclear by which faith or sect the temple was consecrated initially and to which deity. There is a huge idol of Lord Shiva meditating. but nobody found it. There are some myths and theories saying that there is a gem called "Shamanthaka" located in the hands of that idol. Also, there is a secret passage leading to some treasure. He closed the book and left the library.
