"Well, we're always excited when we get new neighbours." I hear a voice telling and i open my eyes more and sit up slowly.

I rub my eyes to get the tiredness away and look at the clock. It's 11 am, it's probably better to get up.

"Oh, it's nice that the hospitality here hasn't changed even though we've been so long away." Mom says.

Yeah, that's where you can recognize that you're in South. People in here are really sweet as pie's, literally.

People in here love to get to know new people and they wanna show how welcomed they are by the first thing in the morning to ringing the bell and bringing pastry.

I hope that one brought something good. I can't make out what they are talking but i do recognize when someone is...can i say too nice? I mean the voice and it's tone.

I love that community in here is very welcoming and everyone loves people as if they were family but sometimes it can be overbearing or even strange.

Or maybe i just got used in France where people are more distant.

I get up from my bed and put on my wine red silk robe. Before leaving my bedroom it has always been important that i've put myself together, and that includes makeup, combining my hair etc.

I think i'm gonna do my usual makeup because it's the first day in Memphis.

So new home, new life.

I moisturize my face and then put a primer, then i let those settle for a moment. I get up from my chair and go to my closet to look for a outfit of the day.

After some moments of thinking i decide to take my dark blue with abstract flowers printed dress with long sleeves that is about in midthighs.

Best things about summer is that you can look like your ultimate girly-girl.

Once i've put my clothes on i come back to my "makeup" table and start finishing my makeup. With a little bit foundation, and i've always loved dark eyes with lining the lower lashline with black eyshadow, and upper eyelashline with black eyeliner. Then i put white eyeliner to my waterline to make my eyes look bright and little bit bigger. Only left are lashes, eyebrows.

Once i'm readu I open the door and step to the hallway and make my way to the downstairs. The voices are coming clearer and i can make out what it's said. It's what the old people always are talking about especially women. The weather and...husbands?

Unfortunately my mom doesn't really have a lot to say to the last part.

When i get to the downstair i hear that they are in kitchen and i smell something really delicious. It can't be...

Fresh pecan pie, my utmost favourite food or desert in the world.

"Well, there she is." My mom says as she notices me.

The woman opposite of her is looking at me with a friendly smile, she has almost platine blonde hair that is on her neck. She looks like that classic Gracious Southern lady.

She get's from the kitchen chair and comes towards me. "You must be Alyona." She smiles and comes to give me a hug.

"That is me." I smile in her hug.

My mom smiles. "How did you sleep?" She asks as me and the lady break from the hug.

"Actually good, expect it to be more jetlagged, but no. I'm as cheery as the bird sings it's first morning song." I say.

What?

The lady and mom smile and mom laughs a bit. "Didn't know you had rhymes like that." She stands up and get's a cup for me.
