As the instrumental my children made for my dearest Kourina played in the background, I could feel her presence coming close to my house. I asked Roger to bring her here because I few fond to love her company. She's been busy with her music and her little life she lives, and my band seems to love her more than they love me. She walked in with snacks and then a a glass jar full of blood, she smiled walking over to me handing it to me.
"Where did you get this from?" I asked her.
"Blood bank and I made sure to keep it warm this time, I know cold blood is disgusting. I paid a lot of money for that so drink up. I got snacks people." She threw the bag of snacks on the counter, I grabbed her arm gently pulling her out the room.
"You didn't have to, I can find my dinner later." I told her, for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to be rough with her. She's so gentle and her soul is just the most beautiful thing I ever met, Marius was right about everything. I just can't not leave her alone, she seem to find some type of comfort in me.
"It's still daylight a little, you haven't eaten anything all day, so take this blood don't be so bitter lestat, besides I paid for it." She chuckled, her chuckled turned into her low sound laugh, I seem to enjoy her laugh it wasn't a noxious like the other humans I came encountered with.
"So you did all that for me? Out of the goodness of your heart?" I asked her she nodded walking up to me putting her hand on my cheek, her warmth sunk into my skin. I backed away from her, she nodded her head backing away as well. I looked her up and down looking at her perfect oiled smooth skin. Her one leg showing from the slit of her skirt and her breast propping up because of her black corset she wore.
"Like my outfit?" She asked chuckling.
"You look ridiculous." I cracked a little smile, hit my arm playfully not that it bothered me, mortal strength and immortal strength differs by a lot, she could hit me her hardest and I wouldn't even notice.
"You like the instrumental they made for you? My children are very very talented they remastered the original I think this one will be better." She looked sad all of sudden, her smile had faded away and it was just pure sadness. "What's wrong? Did I say something wrong Kourina?" I asked her she shook her head no, sitting down on the couch, I sat next to her hoping that she would say something.
"Your concert is just days away, aren't you scared for what's going to happen?" She asked me sitting up, I chuckled not she wad concerned for my well being it was adorable. "Why are you laughing? I was serious, you told the world the vampire lives in our faces and your laughing? They are beyond pissed, I think that's something to-"
"Don't worry Kourina, just go in there and record that masterpiece I know your going to make. You have an Angelic voice. Try something different, put.... Power into it." I told her, she got up going into the back walking into studio, I watched as she laughed and had fun with my children, they were way comfortable with her than with me. They loved me but they loved her more, shes something different. Special.

Old gods on new streets. Not only had the concert sold out among the living it seemed all the undead were coming too. There would be angry vampires out there frightened of the light I was directing on all our kind.
The press confess flash back
"Do you have anything to say to the other vampires ?"

They wanted me dead. Let them try. Bring it on. Better dead than alone. I wanted to bring Kourina with me to perform, let my fans hear her music before my performance. She said she didn't want to steal the spotlight, but I know the real reason she was afraid of what might come. I told her that won't nothing happen to her, there's somebody protecting her little do she know.
"She has an beautiful voice, talking and singing. I see why you fancy her so much my child." Marius appeared, he always seem to sneak up, I knew he was coming so I waited.
"Please, I don't fancy she's just really talented." I chuckled.
"If not her then Jesse I reckon." Marius tried to provoke making it seem like these women mean something to me. One begs me to be in her life wanting me to change her, it gets annoying although I enjoy her company. As for Kourina she has something in common in with me, but in the end we both like to be alone. She enjoys her alone, for the past couple of weeks she's been spending her alone time with me. She comes out after hours just to spend time with me- it doesn't mean she means something to me, I guess I enjoy her company as well.
"Leave Kourina Alone, her mother is alive. She's a vampire and your no match for this newborn I tell you she's a special one. Leave Kourina alone, she don't want her daughter mixed in what your getting yourself into. Now that Akasha has arisen and is well, she definitely doesn't want to take a chance, so I ask you. No more outings with Kourina." Marius he was serious, and Kourina mother is alive after all this time, but he wants me to leave her alone just because of her mother?
"Kourina won't go for me disappearing, she's not that easy to bullshit Marius." I looked away laughing.
"This is not an laughing matter lestat, if you don't keep Kourina out of this her mother will kill Jesse and any other human on this earth exposing us to the world, not like nothing you haven't already done but worse. Her mother only enjoys one thing since she become immortal, vengeance and she reigns well ." Marius was serious, I knew if I had did Kourina would be alone and for some reason I don't want her too.
"She's going to be alone."
"Is she? Or you?" He sighed shaking his head. "You still have those lingering mortal emotions lestat, I would at least thought over the centuries you have been living they would've went away. You still hold on to the one thing that keeps -"
"Marius don't, I leave her alone fine but if she comes looking for me or wanting answers of my disappearance that's you and her mother to fix." I grew tired of this conversation, I wasn't going to listen no way. After my night of the concert, then I will leave her alone but until, I just won't disappear I enjoy her company.
"My daughter is the only thing in this world that keeps me living, if she was dead I would have walked into the sun and let myself burn and go to hell. I watched my daughter for her 20 years of living, she has never came encountered with a vampire until she has met you." A beautiful woman with long black hair, I definitely could see the resemblance in them both.
"You must be her mother, you trying to save her is only going to make it worse." I boldly told her, even when I was human I was never good at meeting peoples mothers. They always they knew what was right for the daughters, when they were the ones causing their pain.
"And how is that? You think letting her -"
"Letting her continue to be around me keeps her from being lonely, -"
"She's not lonely she has me. I'm always with her." Oh lord I find this women interesting by the second, does she really think that?
"In the shadows you are, she doesn't even know your alive, she thinks your dead from a car crash, you don't tell me to do something cause I don't take orders. I'm my own man."
