Just An Ordinary Girl

Chapter Seven

I wake up the next day next to Mikey and realise that I have to go to school.
Lord,give me the strength to get through this damn day.
I have a quick shower,put on my blue jeans,a black tee and my black Tommy's.I really don't care about looking nice,its not like anyone notices anyway.
I grab a toast and head into mum's car.
There's awkward silence on the way to school, I feel like opening the car door and jumping out of the car right now."So, did you speak to your brother? " My mum asks out of the blue.
"Yes mother. " I say,annoyed.
"And?" She asks.
Inquisitive much?
"And nothing mum, I don't wanna betray Mikey's trust. " I say firmly.
"Whatever suits you Leah." She says, I think she rolled her eyes at me,oh well.
Finally I see the sight of my oh my amazing high school,Greenwich High School with big black letters across the front of the building.
Agh.
I kiss mum goodbye and head for whatever is coming my way today.
Think positive, you'll be ok,Mikey will be ok,everything will be ok.
I walk straight to my locker and check out my timetable for today.
Geography first lesson, can my day get any better?
"There's the girl with the freak brother Yo." I turn around to see who they referring to and I realise that they referring to me.
What the hell?
"Yo why yo bro be cutting himself?" This one guy I recognise from Biology,Troy asks me.
I look at him up and down burning with anger. He has no right, no right at all!
"Excuse me?" I say,I gulp. How did this even come out?
"Yo bro he attempted suicide are you bloody deaf fringe girl?" He says.
Snickering,his friends laugh behind him.
I suddenly feel all eyes are on me and I'm burning with anger,how dare he,an imbecile that can't even speak proper English,ask me about my brother,who is recovering from an attempted suicide!
"Get out of my face you moron!" I scream.
Troy laughs and hits the books out of my hand, everyone watching laughs.
This is it, I feel my pressure boiling,I want to kill him,I can feel my hands itching to strangle that damn neck of his.
And just as I was about to jeopardise my future by 'attempting' to kill Troy, someone in the crowd leaps forward and punches Troy in the stomach.
Troy cries out like a dog in severe pain.
The person turns towards me and there he is.
Cole.
"Are you ok?" He asks me.
His voice is so soft,so smooth.
"Y-yes." Is the only thing I manage to say.
"Pick up her books Troy, now!" Demands Cole.
Woah...
Troy looks at me and then at Cole and laughs.
"Yo bro you gonna fight me for this cancer bitch?you messed up br-"
Cole leaped forward and kicked Troy right between his legs,another cry comes out from Troy's mouth.
"How dare you talk about her in such an ill mannered way you son of a bitch!" Cole is red with anger, his face shows it all,he is like a person on fire right now.
The hallway is filled with students all gasping and some even cheering.
"I said pick up her books Troy,or do you wanna feel my fists against your face again? " Cole said coldly.
Troy's friends laugh at Coles threat and Troy looks as if he wants to run out of the hall, away from all this embarrassment Cole is causing.
I watched in absolute amazement at how Troy slowly bent down and picked up my books and walked towards me.
"Uh I uhm Im sorry fring- I mean Maleah" he said.
I didn't care that he was about to call me fringe girl yet once again, I was astonished at what just happened.
I took my books and just nodded at him.
Believe me,I was freaking smiling on the inside.
He walked away in complete embarrassment and in my head I think,yeah you totally deserved that.
"Quit staring and walk along!" Cole said to all the students surrounding us.They seemed to have snapped out of what just happened and quickly scurried along.
I gulped.
What do I say to him?
"Are you ok Maleah?" He asked.
His voice is like music to my ears,speaking of ears they probably as red as a bloody tomato.
"Yes thank you for standing up to me...no one has ever done that for me before." I said.
Great now I sound like a helpless little puppy.
"You don't need to thank me,I just hate innocent people being taken advantage of." He said.
His eyes are so beautiful..so mesmerising.
Snap out of it Leah!
Shit here I am day dreaming when he's right in front of me.
"Thank you once again." Was the only thing that came out of mouth.
"Hey do you wanna meet up later?We could go to the park for a bit..." he asked, seeming really nervous.
Cole just asked me out.
I feel like I can't breathe.
I've been waiting for this day for as long as I can remember and it's finally here.
"Sure." I said, with a huge dorky smile on my face.
"I'll wait for you after school." He smiled and walked away.
Leaving me wondering what the hell just happened.
I've just been insulted by Troy,Cole stood up for me,hit Troy and embarrassed him in front of the whole school and then Cole asked me out...
How did a morning so terrible end up being this amazing?
Here's to a new start...
