*Work*
"He'll be with you in just a moment."
I told the person on the other end if the line. I'm a receptionist. I make really good money, surprisingly. But only because I work for a big-time millionaire. It's a pretty good job. All I have to do is sit here all day and answer the phone. Cool, right? I also get Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays off. More time to party!
*Later In The Day*
"Bye, George!"
I was just leaving work. I was walking out the door, looking down at my purse trying to find my keys, when I ran into something. No, not something. Someone. Not just anyone, the curly haired boy from this morning. No! This can't be happening now! How did he even find out where I work?
"Hello, gorgeous."
Oh, that voice! No! Stop it Liz! You're supposed to be angry with this man.
"What do you want?"
I asked with a hint of annoyance in my voice.
"Don't be like that babe."
Why did he call me 'babe'?
"You didn't answer my question."
I said getting more irritated by the second.
"You look really sexy in that dress of yours, Liz. I want you."
How can he be so forward? He is so rude! What kind of gentleman tells a girl he 'wants her' when they don't even know each other? Apparently he didn't have manners.
"Will you tell me who you are if I go clubbing with you?"
I know, I know. What the heck. I'm just getting myself into more trouble, right? Well, little did he know that I had a plan. I never intended on actually doing anything in that club with him. I was just going to get him drunk enough to spill everything, and then I would go call the cops.
"You really think I'm stupid enough to fall for your little plan Liz? I know you just wanna get me drunk so I'll tell you who I am, and then you can call the cops."
Is he a freakin' mind reader of something?!
"N-no. What are you talking about?"
Curse my lying ability. I had never been a good liar. I always stuttered or talked really fast. Apparently he noticed.
"Stop lying, Liz."
At that moment his eyes darted from my face to focus on something behind me. I started to turn around.
"Don't move, Liz."
Harry demanded under his breath. But I could hear the anger in his voice. I didn't dare move a muscle. He scared me sometimes.
"Oh, would you look at that."
A very unfamiliar, manly voice said. Although I couldn't see the speaker.
"Aw, you two look perfect together. You're a lucky girl, Liz. Now where's my package, Harry?"
So my guy's name is Harry. Good to know. What was this man talking about? We're not dating. And we never will. And what 'package'? When the man spoke my name, I could see Harry's jaw clench with anger. Then Harry pulled me behind him, making him a shield to me. At first I thought, this is it, I can run now. But then, immediately after, when I tried to, I couldn't move. I was literally paralyzed with fear. So put my hands against Harry's back, fearing he might walk away and leave me unprotected. I guess Harry sensed my fear.
"Sh, it's ok, Love. I won't let him hurt you."
He whispered in my ear. That made me feel protected, safe.
"Don't worry, Dan. I've got it. I'll give it to you tomorrow, like we agreed."
"You better. Or else you'll never see that little beauty behind you again."
And with that, he left. Harry turned around and picked me up, bridal style and carried me to the back seat of his car. He climbed in next to me, closed the door behind us, and wrapped his arms around me, still holding me. That's when the fear caught up to me, and I started sobbing into his chest.
"Sh, sh. It's ok, Baby. It's ok."
I just kept crying until I eventually fell asleep, still wrapped in Harry's arms.
