" Vhae."
Lilac clashed with grey as the woman looked up from her needlework to her husband, a faint crease between her brows.
She was once young and beautiful, a naive girl who thought she owned the world until a certain tournament at Harrenhal changed everything for her and her family.
Her husband's house's words echoed in her mind as the memory of that tournament flashed through her mind. Winter is coming. It had been fitting words back then.
She blinked and stood, laying down her needlework on the low table beside her.
" Is something wrong?," she asked.
Her husband shook his head."No. I simply came to see what my lady wife are up to."
She smiled at him, her soft full lips pulling upwards." Just a bit of needlework. I want to finish before the babe comes."
Her husband's face softened. It will be their sixth child and he'd been quite unhappy at the beginning when she told him the news.
They'd argued for what seemed forever about it. In the end she'd told him to stop bedding her if he wanted no more children and he told her to stop forgetting her moon tea.
She isn't showing yet, but soon she would be and the world would meet another Stark.
Targaryen, she thought to herself as she gently rubbed her belly. Her husband moved closer, his calloused hands coming up to cup her face.
He was once a young man, a second son of a Lord Paramount and not the heir to Winterfell until her own father killed his father and his brother because of her brother's stupidity to go and fall in love with her husband's sister, the betrothed of another.
For months he'd been angry, treating her like she was the enemy. He wasn't the only one, though. Many people of the North hated her family and they were not alone. Dragonspawn, the new king who sits her father's throne called them.
She swallowed, closing her eyes and forcing down the painful memories of what came after Harrenhal.
" Are you feeling alright?," her husband murmured.
She nodded even though it was difficult with his hands holding her face captive.
" I wrote to Robert. I informed him of the babe. He hasn't written back."
She looked up at him, her petite form, dwarfed by his taller and bulky frame.
"He'll be furious again. He won't ever forget about who I am, Ned. Our children...." She trailed of and sucked in a breath.
" Our children are Starks more than they are Targaryen, Vhaenessa. Robert knows that we'll never claim the throne."
" What about Jae? He is the true h_"
Her husband placed a finger on her lips to silence her. " Jon is my bastard and no one will ever know who his real parents are, Vhaenessa. What is it with you that you want to bring this up again today?"
She frowned in annoyance. She hated it that her nephew are known as the Stark bastard for his safety as the true heir to the Iron Throne.
"Just old memories coming to haunt me," she admitted," I miss them, you know. The ones I lost. And the ones I am not allowed to look for. If I could only help Viserys and Daenerys. If I could've raised them. I could....I could_"
Warm lips met hers in a long kiss to stop her words from continuing. She tried fighting it, tried fighting him because she didn't want him to quiet her down today.
" Hush, Vhae," he whispered against her lips. " Just let me love you."
