" Ned."

Ned looked up from his paperwork to see his lady wife standing before his desk, nervously wringing her hands.

He sat up straighter. "What happened?," he asked.

"Jaehaerys asked__"

"Vhae!," he hissed, cutting her off. His eyes darted around frantically as if he would find someone hiding in the ancient walls of his keep.

"Sorry...Jon then. He asked me about his mother. I...um...I told him that it isn't up to me to tell him. That you are the one who should. Jon are old enough to understand,Ned. You should tell him the truth. It is only right. Please?"

Ned stood, shaking his head. "No. I promised to protect him. Telling him isn't protecting him."

She sucked in a breath, feeling disappointment eating away at her. It was so unfair that Jaehaerys had to live without the truth. He deserved to know the truth about himself and her husband kept on denying him that truth.

She touched her stomach, folding her hand over her now slightly bigger belly. It would still be months before the babe are born, but she can see it in her husband's eyes sometimes...He don't really want another child. Probably because it already caused problems.

"He is a man grown in the eyes of the world,Ned. Don't you think that he can decide for himself now. Please, tell him. Or you might regret it if you keep it from him. Life isn't always a smooth path. You more than anyone knows how danger lurks around the bends. So please, if not for him,do it for me....or the memory of his parents."

" Vhaenessa....you should understand that I can't. It's not just the king who would want to kill him. There's Dorne also. They will hate the child of the woman who stole their sister's husband. They'll seek retribution for Elia, Rhaenys and Aegon. How better to get it by killing the fruit of Rhaegar and Lyanna's love?"

"What if I tell him then? I can't keep it anymore. It kills me to see Jae suffer. Please...just understand, I only want him to suffer no more."

Ned watched as his beautiful Targaryen bride turned on her heels, her long silver blonde hair swinging around like a cape behind her.

By the door she paused for a moment. "He isn't just of your blood. He is of mine, and by the Gods, I won't let the memory of my brother be tarnished anymore." With that she walked out of the door, her light footsteps echoing down the hallway.

Raking a hand over his face, Ned let out a sigh. He should have known that hatching the eggs will bring questions from Jon.

He had hoped that Vhaenessa would remain on his side on not telling Jon anything, but he had been wrong. She had loved her brother so much when he'd been alive. Oftentimes he'd wondered if her love for Rhaegar had been pure sibling love,or if the age old Targaryen habit of taking a sibling, an uncle, etcetera, as a lover had manifested in her.

He swallowed and stood. He will have to think on this delicate situation before everything gets to far out of control that he can never stop it.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad for Jon to know the truth. It would certainly prepare him for when the world finds out about the dragons.

He decided to take a walk to his most favorite spot in the world to think. The tranquility of the Godswood always helped to calm him and made him think straight on whatever plagued his mind.

He was halfway down the hallway, though, when he heard the reason of his thoughts call out to him in that quiet solemn way of his.

He halted and turned slightly to look at the boy.
