Chapter One Ending;
Nightmare sighed, "I'll make an offer. You accept it, and I'll let you go. The longer you resist, the longer you'll stay here. At least, unless or until I get bored with you..."
"Wh-What...is it."
"I want you to _________________."
----------------------------------------------------------"I want you to become my spy. My eyes on the inside, Ink. You tell me if the Stars plan anything. Betrayal, Ink. You don't know it yet, but Blue and Dream aren't who you think they are. They're different around you," he let out a stifled laugh, "But sometimes they slip up and show their true nature, true feelings. Towards you."
Ink shook his head, "No, I won't do that. And I won't believe you either." He stared at Nightmare, fury seemingly burning in his eyes. "I WON'T betray my FRIENDS. Do what it is you want to me, but I will not do what you so currently ask of me." He spat the end of his sentence, venom flowing through his words.
Nightmare shrugged and chuckled to himself, "Suit yourself, but you'll learn the truth sooner or later."
And with that, the Goopy skeleton turned and left, a smirk of pure mischief plastered across his face, "Sooner or later, Ink... Just you wait."
Nightmare's words dug at Ink's non-existent soul at his conscience. What if... what Nightmare told him was true?
Ink shook his head. How could he think that way?! About his own friends?! I mean, this is NIGHTMARE, we're talking about.
Ink couldn't believe himself right now. He wouldn't give in to Nightmare. He wasn't weak, and he wouldn't give Nightmare the satisfaction either.
He muttered curses under his breath, he would endure whatever Nightmare put him through, no matter the severity, but he would not betray his friends, absolutely not, he wouldn't stab them in the back. What type of person did Nightmare even take him for?!
He grit his teeth and stood up, determined to find a way out, an escape of sorts, and get back to his friends.
Nothing worked. He tried long and hard into the night, hoping to be able to escape, but his attempts failed, nonetheless.
He laid down on the uncomfortable, cold, tile floor, his body aching from trying to force his way out as a last resort. Despite the ground being uncomfortable, he surprisingly found it slightly pleasant to lay down and relax after using up all the energy he'd had.
Suddenly, he blacked out..
When Ink 'woke up', he wasn't in the basement anymore. It was nothing but a white void.
He began to shake, tears forming in his eyes, "No... No! LET ME OUT OF HERE!! LET ME OUT! PLEASE!!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, but it was no use. There was no one there to help him.
Then, a low chuckle rang in the atmosphere around him, a pitch-black appearing in front of him.
"Hello...Ink." The figure looked down upon the skeleton as it slowly regained its appearance. It was, of course, Nightmare.
Nightmare cackled, fueled by Ink's fear, and squeezed him with one of his tentacles, picking him up, almost snapping his bones in the process, "You naive little thing.." He cooed at him, an evil grin on his face, the grip on Ink's body tightening, "You don't want to believe me, so how about I show you, huh?"
He dropped Ink, two blurry blobs forming in front of them.
As they became clearer, it was obvious it was Dream and Blue, talking?
Ink stared at the two, "DREAM! HELP ME!"
Nightmare looked at Ink, "Can't hear you. Now shut up and watch before I make you." He grumbled, already pissed.
Ink just shut up, his bones still aching from.. everything.
The conversation of the two far away beings in front of them became more clear, no longer muffled talking, but crisp sentences.
"I mean, Dream, do we really need to get Ink back? Is he that important of an asset that we HAVE to get him back? Why can't we just let him rot in Nightmare's basement?"
Dream sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose slightly, harshly glaring at the ground, "We've been over this, Blueberry. As much as I hate to admit it, he's useful. And we can't take on Nightmare's gang, just the two of us, either. Besides, it'll stain our reputation if we don't try to do something, remember what where about, Blue. Saving others. If we want monsters and humans alike to look up to us the way they do now, we HAVE to save him."
With that, they both faded away, leaving the void empty accept for the two skeletons.
Ink shook his head, Nightmare was trying to trick him, play with his mind, to get him to betray his friends.
"I don't believe you, Nightmare. Good try, but your little mind games won't work on me. I know you're just trying to play with my mind, trying to make me think you're telling the truth. But I KNOW you're lying."
"Still delusional, I see.." Nightmare shrugged his shoulders, "Well, you and your delusional conscience can sit in that cell, cold, uncomfortable, hungry, and lonely, wishing you'd believed me. I'll be waiting for you to crawl back to me when you understand your fooled mind."
Nightmare snapped his fingers, and he, along with Ink, were out of the void.
Ink woke in a cold sweat, sitting up, "That bitch.." He mumbled, glaring, yet he couldn't help but wonder...What if what he saw, really was...true? Ink took note to how they acted towards him, and his eyes fell.
"I can't, I won't give into Nightmare and his games. I know he's just trying to manipulate me... right? "
