Let's Begin!

The day rose with a bright beautiful sun, the ocean water lapping against the hull of the ship. I rubbed my eyes and looked over the deck. Workers stood everywhere, moving food such as apples and bilberries, which are slightly darker than blueberries. The captain steered the wooden ship wheel and darted his eyes over to me.

"Mornin'" he said with a slight Norwegian accent.

"Hi, captain." I told him back.

"Just call me Barron." He said with a chuckle. I kept looking around and saw Miranda leaning out over the side of the ship. She looked like she was going to hurl. I stepped to the side of her and frowned.

"Are you seasick?" I asked.

"No, I'm just processing all of this Hunter Exam information..." She looked at me all queasy and threw up. "I'll be fine once I clear my head." She dizzily walked over to the bench and grew a green face, then darted back over to the side of the ship.

I shrugged and shook my head. Then, I wandered over to a room in the ship where they served food. A chubby-looking lady with a blue bandanna stood behind a rusted metal counter, scooping mashed potatoes from a silver ladle. I took my place in line and slowly inched my way over to her.

"What do you want?" She very very abruptly.

"I'll have the mashed potatoes, please." I pointed to a container full of the yellowish-white food.

"We're all out," She smirked and kept going, "What else do you want?"

"What do you mean 'We're all out?' I can see them right there!" I very angrily pointed at the food again. She smiled this time and let out a laugh.

"Listen, kid. You can't get by in this world with manners anymore. Whatever your lousy mom taught you about manners you should forget." She then scooped out the potatoes and gave me some vegetables to go with it. I sort of stomped over to a table where Henry was sitting, munching on a hash-brown. I sat across from him and ate my own food, too.

"Good morning." I said to him.

"Did the lunch lady give you a hard time?" He must of noticed our conversation.

"Yeah," I said, "And it makes me mad that she also insulted my mom."

"I didn't really mind it. These guys are kind of like pirates, so I don't usually pay attention to what they say, except for the captain." We both got up and handed our trays and plates to one of the kinder ladies. We headed back outside and looked in front of the ship. A huge harbor shadowed our ship and we moved closer and closer. When we reached a large canal, other people looked at all of us on board and some even pointed to Henry and I, even Miranda (Who was still vomiting over the side), too.

We docked on the side of a small shopping district and the captain gave us cards. They each had the same thing, a indistinct map of how to get to the Hunter Exam location. Griffin, Jordan, Jack, and Colin met up with us, too. We all shared confusing looks as we stared blankly at the cards.

"If you want to become Hunters, you need to know your directional senses." And with that, the captain shoved off of the land and headed back towards the open sea.
