THE OPPURTUNITY

NADIA:-

1 year went in a swoop everything was going good, my job, college, friends and also I made new friends near my apartment. I can't say I was the brightest of all but I had Impressed many teachers with my ability to collect news yeah, I wasn't brilliant with the theory lectures but no one could out stand my practical abilities In the field of journalism( just forget the self praising part I mean to say It's all good In the end)

I'm little sad cause I thought that not dad but Alex would try and find me or try to reach out to me, anyways I was disappointed but at the same time I was happy that he Is maybe focusing on good. As for dad I don't care much about how's he doing but I want to know Is he doing good?.

Back to the reality, I was sitting in the campus garden with David and Zach.

"There is this treasure hunt kinda thing the college has announced for our department." Said Zach who was busy turning pages of the novel he was reading with David's head on his lap. "Do you wish to join?" "Yeah, I'm gonna get my name on the list. Are you David?" I asked David. In this 1 year I got to know that David was more Introvert than Zach actually was, he had social anxiety and also I got to know he was forced to leave his own parents because they disowned him as he came out as a gay. I grown to have a soft spot for both of them, they were excellent friend of mine.

"No, I don't think I would be able to pass the tasks in whatever hunt it is." David answered. We three stood up and started to walk back towards our class but I had to enrol for the hunt we earlier talked about so I went directly to the billboard in the main auditorium where the list was.

It wasn't limited to our college only it was a Inter college competition I was thrilled on my way back to my class when I thought that there would be more than 500 students for the same competition. It would be a lifelong experience. I thought and got to my place and soon it was time to get back to home.

It was finally the day of the competition, we had given task to spy and collect information about the respective person and I got Bianca a new exchange student, and a total bitch. Black hairs, brown eyes and annoying attitude. I had fight with her once when she tried to falsely accuse me of looking Into her locker apparently I thought that It belonged to David, It was when David call me to get his black cap which was In locker and due to a noisy atmosphere around me I couldn't hear the locker number he said and I mistaken It for some other number, and that locker belonged to the bitch yeah Bianca, we settled the matter at that day after I apologised her and told her the truth but after that she always saw me with the eyes of a thief. It was 2 days competition, the first day was damn tiring but it was an interesting challenge. I got to know many things about Bianca apparently she wasn't that bad she had this perfect smile and helping nature sure it wasn't something i expected her to be.

It was third day and the competition ended well everyone had to submit their report to the principal, and the he would choose,

"Dear fellows, I'm very much thrilled to announce the result of this investigation hunt, I see many of you have such a great potential ..............so the winner of this hunt is...." suddenly the pause sounded very long I just closed my eyes crossing my fingers hoping that I would win the hunt but my heart broke when I heard the name of a boy who was from other college. I expected my name for the first position guess I was wrong I secured the second position.

Soon the winners were announced and congratulated and everyone started leaving, I was about to leave the stage towards the exit when the principal called my name, is toped on my track, "Miss Gusev, I need to talk to you for a minute in my office." I nodded and followed him through his way to office he pushed the door and motioned me to enter first; he entered taking his seat and offered me to sit too. I can sense the silent tension in the air. He soon broke the silence

"you see miss Gusev this our college is one of the most reputed college in the entire Russia and not many student can enter this college but you have great skills that impressed me also the way you described the information was something I had seen only professionals could do so here I would like to offer you this deal, also i would like to mention not many people get this chance" he took a pause, i was tensed all of a sudden what deal and if I had good skills why wasn't I selected for the 1st prize "I have deal you would spy for me and I would pay for your academic expenses and promise for your bright future ahead." "Why me?" I asked "you have great skills, also you are the best fit for this." "why not the guy that won the competition apparently he was better than me" "we had to cheat there, to maintain our relationship with the other college we had to announce him as a winner, and for you i can trust you as a student of this college and also its only you I can trust with this project." He said like it was nothing for him to cheat and let another one win who was clearly wasn't that worthy at all I took a pause trying to read his expression but I only met with seriousness "what kind of project?" he took out a file in front of me opened it and showed me some of the pictures, it wasn't hard to guess that the pictures belonged to the renowned ceo and his brothers CZAR, MAXIM and LEV IVANOV.

"So you know them" the principal said

"Almost everyone knows them they are the CEO'S of Ivanov construction" I shrugged

"You are right but they have been carrying out illegal activity past many years, no one seems to know that, I want your help to uncover them for me no one will know your name if you are worried for your security, once you agree I would be liable for all your academic expenses and the studies u will miss out, also I will secure position in this college as a lecturer or any news organisation if you decide to help me spy" I asked and let me decide the rest I was still in his office "I will leave you alone here for some moment but when I return I want your answer ready." He said and left the office I was alone there thinking the rights and wrongs of the whole spying thing I had more benefit than threats it would help me ease out from my students loan I had taken for my studies and also will secure a job for me I had nothing to loose and lot to gain I thought about it for an hour straight. Soon the principal entered the office taking his seat again and looked at me "so have thought of an answer yet?" I just nodded my head at his question "yes I would take this deal but I also want to know what if I got caught in the process." He nodded slowly "you don't have to be worried about that i will always be by your side and never let anything happen to you and if you get caught i will free you so there is not more for you to be worried about, but after you leave this office you are not allowed to tell about this to a single soul about this deal, and your project will start from tomorrow u will be provided everything you need to complete this mission also you will be trained and will be informed more about them. Prepare yourself I will meet you tomorrow at the xxx warehouse at sharp 10am, don't be late and take this very seriously"

I left the office and went back to home, attended my job at the cafe and went back home at 9pm, I laid on my bed thinking what the next will be holding for me, and soon drifted to sleep.
