the vanishing of will byers.

---__---__---

I opened my eyes. It was dark. Completely pitch black. The darkness surrounded me, bled into me.

I looked around rapidly. How did I get here? Where was I?

I was sitting on the ground, water surrounding my legs. I stood up slowly, carefully. In the distance, I heard something. I looked to see where the sound came from. And, very far in the distance, I saw something. I didn't know what it was, but I ran towards it. I slowed down when I got closer, coming to a stop about 6 feet away from it. My eyes widened.

A tall and skinny creature sat there, turned the opposite way from me. Its white skin was thin, so thin you could see bones. Its hands were like claws, and it ripped into the poor animal in front of it. I stepped backwards, fully prepared to make a run for it, but all of a sudden it stopped what it was doing. It stood up. I backed away a few steps, fear filled me. It slowly turned around. I gasped. It had no face. It screamed, and when it did it's face opened up like a flower, rows and rows of teeth on petal-like pieces of flesh. I screamed, immediately turning around and sprinting in the other direction. I heard it running behind me and I closed my eyes tight, trying to convince myself I wasn't there. Trying to convince myself to wake up.

After a while of running, I no longer heard it. I opened my eyes. I turned around to see if it was there, and quickly came to a stop when I realised it wasn't, breathing heavily with my hands on my knees. I rubbed my head in my hands. What is happening?

"Hello?" I heard a voice call out, and I froze. Who was that?

"Hello, is anyone there?" They called out again, and I realised who it was. Will.

Without even taking a moment to think, I ran in the direction I heard the voice. I sprinted.

"Jonathan!" I heard him should, clearly crying. "Mike?"

I felt myself run even faster, faster than I'd ever run. If Will was here, then he was in trouble, and he needed help. And I was gonna help him, no matter what.

"Will?" I called out to him.

I didn't hear anything for a bit, and I paused, scared something had happened.

"Amy?" He cried, from wherever he was.

"Will?" I shouted, desperate. I ran faster. Finally, in the distance, I saw something. A shed. The shed in the Byers house. I was almost there. I reached out for the door handle.

"Amy!" I heard him call out. Just as my hand wrapped around the handle, the world slipped away. My vision blurred, my breathing stopped and I felt as if I was falling.

I shot up in my bed.

I was breathing heavily, my eyes shooting around my room. My eyes welled with tears. This was a bad one. My nightmares have always been bad, but this one especially got to me. What was that? Why did I hear Will? I took a few deep breaths. It was just a dream. It was just a dream. I swung my legs over the side of my bed and ran a hand through my hair.

My mother knocked on my door, making me jump and hold my chest. "Amelia, I've called you three times now. Joyce is on the phone." I froze completely. Joyce? I took a moment to compose myself. No, no, nothing's wrong.

I slowly stood up, walking to the door, where my mum was holding the phone with a frustrated expression. I gave her a small smile as she handed me the phone, but she just walked away. I moved the phone to my ear.
