The beginning

As I lay on my back, eyes closed, and arms spread out. I feel the warmth of the sun and sand course throughout my body. My favorite thing to do in this early summer warmth. The ocean waves are crashing softly and the seagulls above are crying as they soar around. I want to take a nap. "Hey Una!" Never mind. Opening my eyes, I look to my side to see Sol with her arms crossed, looking down at me. "What are you doing? it's time to leave." "Sorry" I say, sitting up and wiping the sand off the back of my arms. "The warm sand felt really nice, very relaxing." Sol hums. "Is that so?" She grins, tucking her very same long straight sandy hair behind her right ear, her semi thick bangs flowing softly in wind. "Well, I'd rather not have sand all over my body you know." "Hey, sometimes you make sacrifices for the things you want to do." I say as she gives me her hand, gesturing to pull me up. I take it and chuckle. "Thanks." Grunting as she pulls me up. "Think we'll be back soon?" patting the sand of my clothes. "Not any time soon I think" Sol says as she starts walking toward the ship once I've finished up. "We've been so busy preparing for the ceremony that we hardly have time for ourselves." Sighing I say, "Yeah I know, but I know Layla wouldn't want such a big fuss over her, given it makes her nervous and all." Sol laughs, looking up at the sky. I mirror her, noticing how fluffy the clouds are. "My sister says that, but I know it makes her happy, she loves when we all come together. There's a slight pause before she looks down and says, "Especially after losing Gunnar." I mirror her again, sadness washing over me. Right, Gunnar. After Gunnar died, Layla was selected his successor. Everyone had expected this before his passing, but it was so sudden. No one felt ready to see a new leader in front of them. Now it's two weeks later, and here we are finishing up preparations for Layla's ceremony. "Come on, let's go." I say, snapping ourselves out of our thoughts. "Right." Everyone is already on the ship with the exception of two of the members carrying the rest of the crates onboard. "Ready when you are captain." A younger member of Sol's crew says as he stands in a soldier like pose. "Good work" she says, putting a hand on his shoulder. "You've been working hard lately, keep it up". The boy blushes and nods as he makes his way back to what I'm guessing are his friends. "He's a serious one, isn't he?" I say looking from the group to Sol. "He's the newest member am I right?" "Yeah, he is". Letting out a chuckle I say, "Reminds me of you when we were younger". Sol turns to me then looks away. "You're right." she smirks. We arrive at the port of the kingdom of Riseon and start moving our cargo on the back of our horse carriages, making our way down the stone path that leads to the side of the forest. Looking up at the sky,  I hear the seagulls cawing fade as we continue our way on to the beaten path.  I start to think about how slow time seems to be going, wondering if anyone else feels it, when I hear voices in the distance. "Looks like we're here".  A member of our group says. Continuing  walking alongside the horse, we make our way towards the side of the camp where we keep all of our freshly delivered cargo. "Looks like you're back!" A voice coming up from behind. "How did it go?" I turn around to see Layla walking up to us, a small smile on her face.

Editors note: Thanks for reading! Please let me know if you would like to see more. To be honest, this is just a rough draft to the whole story I have in my head that I'm not sure I can properly write down, but I figured I'd start with something small for now. Thanks again!
