moving foward towards tomorrow

I won't cry now

Sonic stared blankly at nothing in particular,he could hear how the rain hit the roof of the tent,it was a comforting noise to him.
he closed his eyes and listened closer,trying to fall asleep,he heard thunder which was followed by something that wasn't rain or thunder,it sounded like a sob?

He quickly opened his eyes and turned around to look at where Tails was,the tent was lit up by a lighting and he saw how Tails's body shook under his blanket,he got up and walked over to him.
He gently put a hand on his shoulder only for Tails to shoot up and look around before spotting Sonic right next to him.

"Sonic? What's wrong? Did I wake you up?!" he asked,Sonic was about to answer but tails continued "i'm so sorry! I didn't mean to wake you up, I'm so so-" the hedgehog put a hand up,Tails immediately stopped speaking

'first of all;it's okay, you didn't wake me up. Second, are you okay?' he signed

"huh? yeah i'm fine"

Sonic was about to argue,to tell him that he totally didn't look "fine" but he was stopped by a thunder,Tails flinched and grabbed one of his namesakes

'are you sure?'

"yeah!" he answered in an offended tone, only for his voice to squeak at the end when there was another thunder and he squeezed his tail tighter.
The hedgehog quickly put two and two together

'are you afraid of thunder?'

the twin tailed fox looked down "a bit" he mumbled

'why didn't you tell me?'

"well i thought that it wasn't enough of a serious fear to tell you"

there was another rumble of thunder,Tails squeaked and hugged his namesakes as a tear rolled down his cheek.
Sonic just looked at him for a second thinking about what to do.
He remembers seeing some parents comforting their kids by hugging them,so he scooted closer and hugged the fox,mimicking the way he'd seen them pet between their kids' ears.

Tails sniffed and hugged Sonic back,they stayed like that for a while until he stopped crying and Sonic pulled him away (much to Tails' dismay).

'Please tell me if you're afraid of something next time,even if you think it's not that serious. We need to know about each other's fears if we're going to be going on adventures together,don't we?' the hedgehog gave him a small smile,to which he wiped away a tear and smiled back

"yeah,i guess we do"

It was still raining,but it made him feel safe to know that Sonic was there to comfort him.
He yawned and laid down

"we should go to sleep now"

The blue hedgehog nodded and signed a quick 'goodnight' before walking over to his makeshift bed and laying down.

Tails closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
