The roars of battle surround us. Kagura, Shiro and I all try to fight off the demons that are causing chaos and destruction. My body's tiredness is immeasurable but I keep fighting. We have to do this.

"Stop!" A voice shouted out.

Heads turn towards the girl who shouted out the command. Ai, our beloved miko.

Akanojaku raises his hand and all the demons stop attacking us, freezing the battle.

"Akanojaku." Ai addressed the heartless demon.

Soon, the demons cleared out a pathway for him and Ai. I immediately try to make it towards her as so do Kagura and Shiro. But the demons all block us from moving despite us trying to tear through them.

Akanojaku slowly walks toward her. Time felt slow as he did and the taps of his feet echoed the shrine grounds. He soon made it to her, only a few inches away from each other.

"If I surrender myself to you, will you give your word to leave this realm in peace?" Ai proposed.

No. No. No!

I see the demon's mouth slide into a smirk and he spoke only one word, "Yes."

His hand reaches out to the little woman, beckoning for her to take it. The demons surrounding me and my friends all disappear. The three of us soon start running towards her and Akanojaku.

"AI! DON'T DO THIS!" Kagura shouted.

"IT CAN'T END LIKE THIS!" Shiro hollered.

"PLEASE STOP!" I shrieked.

Just as we were about to reach her, the both of them disappeared from sight. My legs gave in and I touched the floor they were just standing on.

"They... No..."

I felt water beginning to fill my eyes and my vision started to blur.

"Ghh... No! No! NO!" Kagura's voice was filled with immense rage, "Damn Akanojaku! Damn that demon, his army and the destruction he wreaks! ARGH! Damn you, Ai! Damn you and your idiocy...! Your kind... selfless idiocy!"

Kagura soon collapses to the ground.

"I tried so hard... We all did... Why...? WHY?!" Kagura desolately cried out.

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..." Shiro's voice mumbled.

We all stayed there in silence, with only the wind and our sobbing as noise for us to hear. I don't know how long we stayed there... But it certainly felt like an eternity.

"We must go to Takako and tell her it's all over..." Kagura stated.

Kagura's heels click on the stone ground, "Come along."

I eventually get up onto my feet and Shiro and I follow Kagura.

An emptiness were in all of our hearts and still, we stayed silent. I looked out to the sky which was covered by smoke, leaving the sky grey and dark.

Eventually, we saw Takako and the townspeople in the forest.

Takako turned around and saw us.

"Takako... Akanojaku is gone." Kagura told hollowly.

Takako nodded and turned back to the crowd.

"Everyone, the town is safe now! You can go back to your homes!"

Soon, murmurs arose from them and soon a triumphant cheer erupted from them. The townspeople soon ran through us and towards the town. They were all safe, Akanojaku was gone but... the three of us could do anything but celebrate.
