Chapter 7

I was stoned when Tim handed me a box of doughnuts. Even though I have no clue what's happening, I still accept it. He was in his uniform at parang kakarating lang niya galing school dahil sa sukbit niyang backpack sa kanang balikat.

I blinked my eyes twice to confirm that I am really awake and I really am, lalo pa no'ng marinig ko ang boses niya.

"Hey," his deep voice travelled chills all over my body.

I missed his voice.

"U-uh," I couldn't speak!

"It's been months," he uttered. "I missed you..." Aniya nang pabulong, but because the silence was too loud, I still heard it.

Napatingala ako sa kaniya at parang nagulat din siya sa sariling sinabi.

"U-uh... we missed you, o-of course! The whole campus even misses you... I guess," he scratched his head.

"Ahh," I nodded and stared at him again.

I missed you, too, Tim. I couldn't voice out my thoughts.

Nasaksihan ko ang pagbaba ng tingin niya sa tiyan ko at muling ibinalik sa 'kin ang mga mata.

"You're..."

"Yeah, 4 months," I shrugged at the same time I faked a smile.

"Your baby's... big," he chuckled.

At 'ayun na naman ang hindi mawaring pakiramdam. Kahit na tawa niya ang narinig ko, kabaliktaran no'n ang nararamdaman ko, it was like... pain in his voice.

I cleared my throat to somehow cool down the awkward atmosphere.

"Do you want to... go in?" I signalled.

Sandali siyang napatulala.

"No, no," he shook his head in disagreement. "It won't be nice if we're in one room. Now that you are pregnant, your husband might get mad." He stated, chuckling amid his words.

I couldn't figure out what I was feeling while talking to him. There is something for the way he speaks.

"I don't have a husband," I suddenly said.

He looked closely into my eyes and seemed to read me, but he was also the one who first pulled the gaze away.

"Why? A-at work?" Nakita ko ang patago niyang mahigpit na pagpikit.

Bahagya akong natawa. Why do I find him cute when he asked that? Umiling ako.

"No, Tim. He left me after he got me pregnant," I answered.

His eyes slightly widened when they darted into mine again, I just smiled at him. I know that it's hard to be a single Mom, but I'd rather be one than have such an asshole husband.

"Why? Why did he do that knowing that he had a child?" His brows met.

"Step in, and I'll tell you the story," mas niluwagan ko ang bukana ng pinto.
