Chapter 6

"It's a boy, Miss Lorien!" The doctor announced while glancing at the monitor.

It was my 19th week, and we were in the office of my OB. Nics was sitting near the bed and beaming me so proudly.

"Thanks, Doc," I smiled at my doctor when we were about to leave.

"Remember to eat healthy and moderately, avoid eating foods that have high cholesterol, Miss Lori. Don't forget to drink your and your baby's vitamins." The doctor reminded me.

"Yes, of course, Doc," I nodded at her.

Inilalayan ako ni Nics pababa sa stretcher.

"Nics, tomorrow's not my due date, I can still walk properly." I chuckled. She was so worried and treated me extra carefully.

"Aish, don't complain, Miss Tavarra," she rolled her eyes at me.

I just laughed at her and let her do what she wanted. She was holding my hand until we got inside her car.

"Do you have plans? Where are we heading next?" She asked while starting the engine.

"Mall. I want to buy some baby stuff since we already know my baby's gender," I said excitedly.

While we were hitting the road to the mall, I was gazing out the window, reminiscing what had happened for the past months of my life. My family didn't even look for me like they had already forgotten that I existed. They were always busy with their business. I remembered that last week, they flew outside the country for business proposals, and they didn't even bother to give me updates.

I gently caressed my tummy. I stopped going to school ever since my baby bump became obvious. Nics was just updating me about Tim, and she would always say that he was doing great.

I miss him. The last night I saw him was the night of my birthday.

Simula kasi no'ng nalaman kong buntis ako ay nakakulong lang ako sa bahay nila Nics. I would just go out for my baby's checkup. The night of my birthday was the last time I encountered the father of the child inside my womb. Sinubukan kong kausapin siya, sinubukan kong sabihin sa kaniya na may anak siya, but he couldn't believe me. He even said that the father of this child was undetectable because there were so many guys I fucked before.

I fucking curse him to hell.

"This, or... this?" Nics showed me two different pairs of cute pyjamas.

"That one," I pointed at the right pyjama she was holding.

"Okay! We'll buy this," nilagay niya iyon sa cart at nagpatuloy sa pamimili.

Ilang oras kaming ikot nang ikot at halos mapuno na ang cart nang matapos na kami. We went to the counter and she made me sit on the waiting area, bawal daw akong tumayo nang matagal.

I stared at her while she was patiently waiting in the line.

When I told her about Six, she reacted like... she was ready to kill him. She forced me to sue Six but I was the one who said no. Hindi ko na gusto pang lumaki ang mga nangyayari. I was scared and hesitant to do such actions, dahil alam kong ako lang din naman ang matatalo sa huli.
