Elijah's POV

Eli surveyed her apartment as she turned on the lights. It was small. the entrance led to the living room and Eli's eyes hurt when he looked at it. Her couches were blue with beige throw pillows on them. The table in the middle had a bowl of oranges in it, and the wall was covered in weird paintings.

The kitchen was small, with an odd colour scheme too. Green cupboards and plants everywhere. (think dakota johnson kitchen)

She gestured for him to follow her, tripping when she went to the room down the hallway, turning on every light as she went. He flinched seeing the waste of electricity as an environmental major.

cant describe this for shit

Her bedroom was... nice. She had a lot of plants, similar to the rest of her home, but interestingly enough, they were all overflowing with water, which made Eli frown.

Eli was looking around when Carter started literally taking off her pants.

He sputtered. "What the hell are you doing!" He looked away, quickly.

"I'm not sleeping in jeans," she explained. "You've also seen me without pants."

He heard ruffling and then, "I'm under the covers, you can look now."

He turned and scowled at her. Her jeans and her crop top were laying on the floor, but for some reason, she kept his hoodie on. The thought of his clothes on her bare skin made his chest tighten but he didn't bring it up.

She could keep his hoodie. Hell, she could take his entire wardrobe and Eli would probably let her. There was just something about Carter that made him weak to his knees.

"I'm gonna go," he said uncomfortably as soon as he had that thought. Since when was he weak for a fucking girl?

"Wait!" She said frantically, her head peeking out of the covers. "Stay. Just until I fall asleep."

He shrugged. They already fell asleep together before. "I'll stay."

He heard Carter inhale. "No, you won't. You're gonna leave. They always leave," she whispered the last part.

Eli's eyebrows scrunched. What the hell was she talking about?

He waited for ten minutes until she fell asleep before walking to the wall and turning off the light switch.

It took about five seconds for what happened next to happen.

Carter screamed. Loud. He flinched at how loud it was, rushing to her side right away to see what had happened.

When he was within arm's length she grabbed his arm and pulled him down roughly as he toppled on the bed over her.

He didn't even have time to register her bare legs on his torso as he registered how stiff her body was. He couldn't see anything in the darkness and he was about to ask what the hell was wrong with her when he heard sniffles.

"Carter," he tried to pull back but she held on, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his midriff. He let out a pained exhale and how tight she held on.

"Carter. What's wrong with you?" He asked. She sniffled some more and Eli felt sick.

He slowly flipped her body over so that he was on his side rather than on top of her. She still held on to his body and Eli slowly hugged her back, rubbing her back awkwardly.

She explained nothing as he tried to soothe her by whispering nothings into her ear and rubbing her back.

Finally, her grip eased. "I-I'm sorry." She stuttered out as she pulled back from his body, scooting so far that he couldn't feel her warmth anymore.

"What's wrong with you?" He asked uncomfortably.

"Nothing. I just had a nightmare. I'm sorry. You should go," she whispered with shame.

"Carter," he said. "Tell me what's wrong, I can fix it."

"I said it's nothing. Please go," she asked again, softly, begging.

He hesitated before getting up and finding his way blindly to the door. Right as he made it to the exit he heard her soft pained voice again.

"Turn on the light."
