The silver-haired Scribe was sitting at his desk at home. With a quill in hand, he was furiously scribbling something onto a piece of paper. Usually, he's not one to take work home with him, but for the past four days he's been looking for distractions. Anything to take his mind off of the past two weeks was good.

The man groaned, needing to reference a certain book due to the application in front of him. He finished reading the book last week, but instead of returning it to the shelf, he let it sit on his desk, which was now cluttered with paper. Alhaitham stood from his chair, trying to clear his desk's surface.

Rather than finding his book, he found a note. The familiar penmanship caught his eye.

'Alhaitham,

I don't know when you'll find this, but before you go on a rampage and blame Kaveh, I have something of yours. Come and find me if you want it back.

Love,

Y/N'

Alhaitham should be furious that this inconvenience interrupted his work. Instead, he felt a smirk grow on his face. Without a second thought, he left his house in the direction of the Akademiya. He's sure the Akademiya would understand if their former Acting Grand Sage wanted to take a week or two for himself.

You lowered your polearm once the last hilichurl died. "This camp should be all clear," you say over your shoulder to your captain.

"Bravo," he says with a clap. You only give him an awkward smile. "Hey, you've been pretty distracted the past few days," Kaeya notes. "Care to share what's on your mind?"

You turn to your friend, meeting the gaze of his starry blue eyes. "It's nothing really," you sigh.

"Come on now," he says. A look of concern flashes on his face. "You're my friend. We work and fight together. I can tell when you're not at your best. What's going on?"

"I left someone very important in Sumeru," you huff. Kaeya notices how you reach for the emerald necklace adorning your collarbone. He couldn't help but clench his jaw at your action.

"There, happy?" You ask before storming off towards the city, not wanting to say any more. Kaeya follows after you, not wanting to pry, but also wanting to be there for you.

"Look, I know it's none of my business, but if you want to talk about it, you know where to find me."

"I'll be at Angel's Share again later," you tell the navy-haired man. "I just have to finish a few reports."

"Okay. Don't overwork yourself again," Kaeya chuckles. "I'll be sure to save you a drink."

"Thank you."

As soon as you got to the Knights of Favonius' headquarters, you made a beeline for your office. The morning sunlight flooding in from the large window illuminated your office. You sat at the aged wooden desk, scribbling notes and finishing your reports.

"Maybe I shouldn't have left if I knew how many reports were waiting for me once I got back," you mutter. You carefully read each and every report, scribbling notes in the margins.

It was midafternoon when you heard a heavy knock on your office door. "Miss Y/N?"

"Come in," you say, recognizing the voice of one of Kaeya's subordinates.

"There's been a report of suspicious activity around Springvale," he says. "I know you live in Springvale, so I wanted to tell you." You furrow your brow.
