After we met with my pack in the parking lot, the alphas and beta went to discuss how the situation would be handled. I didn't understand why that was necessary, but my instincts told me to go back to my parents' house, start packing, and wait until my mate came for me. I needed time alone in my house. As I finished packing my important belongings, I gathered my parents' pictures, my clothes, and some books I had bought a while ago that I still wanted to read. I started to sing my favorite song and dance while collecting my things and making sure the house was clean for when I would visit.

"If you don't want me just say

I'm not yours, I'm not yours

You want just something to play

Because you're lost, because you're lost

Boy don't make me believe

In this dream that it's real

Please allow me to fly

To the moon through the sky."

I turned around and saw my mate looking at me.

"Why did you stop singing? You have a beautiful voice, and the way you dance..." The distance between us closed. I placed my hands on his chest and we began to dance.

"How was the meeting?" I was curious about what they had discussed since we'd had a rough start in the parking lot. The twins had wanted to defend me when my mate started to growl, and I had to get between them to make sure no one was harmed. After a while, Luna Micha intervened and helped calm the powerful men who weren't ready to stop.

"It was okay. They asked me multiple times if I would take care of you, and I assured them that you're perfectly safe with me. I have a lot of enemies—this is true—but with my strength and your gift I'm sure we'll manage." At that point I felt a bit sad and he noticed. "Please don't misunderstand me: I don't want you for your gift, but since you have it, I won't ignore what you tell me if you choose to share something." I smiled at him and grabbed his hand, pulling him to follow me up to the roof.

"Let me show you why I love this house." I stood behind him, letting him take in the view. Since it was August everything was green; the sounds of the forest mingled with children's voices. Everything contributed to the amazing vibe of this place. Every time I was away I missed it. He turned and looked me in the eyes. Without saying anything, he gave me a bear hug and kissed my forehead.

"Now I'm glad I was nice to your family and that they said we're welcome here anytime. I arranged for someone to take care of the house and the garden, so you don't have to worry about it." That made my heart happy. We can visit my parents' house whenever we want.

"Thank you." That was all I managed to say as I hugged him back. I heard someone call our names downstairs and we decided to go. The mating bond played with my mind and it was getting harder to resist his touch. When we went downstairs, the twins and their mates were there with food.

"We thought you might be hungry and could use a bit of help packing and getting the bags into the car." Austin was the one speaking. The girls looked scared; I moved next to them and tried to comfort them.

"What do you have there? I'm starving." Everyone looked surprised that John was the one talking. He grabbed the bags and we all went into the kitchen. They brought fries, rice, chicken wings, and some gyros. All I can say is the men in this house eat a lot. We had to fight for food, but it helped start a beautiful friendship.

"Hey! That's mine, Alpha John." We all turned to watch John and Laila argue over a chicken wing. I leaned closer to John; this made him focus on me and stop paying attention to Laila, allowing her to get the wing back.
