I enjoy a good challenge, and life has always kept me occupied. I had to take the Alpha title at 18 when my dad was forced by the council to either pass the title to his son or give it to someone else. With no choice, he told me he trusted me and performed the ceremony during the night, with the entire pack witnessing. That year, I attended my first Mating Ball, full of hope that my chosen one would be there and make my life sweeter with her presence. When I came back to my pack alone, everyone encouraged me, saying that next year I would have higher chances of finding her since she might be younger than me.

Four years passed, and nothing happened. First, I went to my witch and checked if she was dead, but she assured me that wasn't the case—my mate was younger than me, and I needed to be patient.

One day, something surprised me: I could sense her scent through my Beta, and I went nuts. I asked him where he was and who he had seen, and apparently, he was on his usual journey, taking care of pack business and visiting one of his friends. I searched everywhere and couldn't find her. That was the moment I destroyed my office and ordered my witch to cast a spell to find out more. Ilea told me that if I wanted to know more, the spell would hurt me greatly.

"Just do it, Ilea. I don't care.... I need to know."

"Cut your hand and place it on the map; I will tell you what I see." She didn't even finish speaking when my hand was already on the map.

"Moon in the sky,
Since you are so high,
Allow me to see,
Far over the sea.
Since you are so old,
Allow me to hold
Just a bit of sooth,
To aid John's comfort..."

Ilea went on, and I felt like my blood was on fire. I wanted to take my hand off the map, but she had a firm grip. I thought she was trying to kill me rather than reveal anything about my mate. Then, out of nowhere, she stopped, looked at me, and in a strange voice, she said:

"Just like moon and sun,
You two never met so far.
Since moon's gifts are here,
We can't see at all—
Who moon is or where.
She is dancing, slay,
Sun will find moon when
The dance comes to an end."

"She has gifts?" I asked, confused.

"I think she can see you before you reach her. I can't do anything about it, Alpha."

"Thank you, Ilea."

I left her house and went to drink until I couldn't remember anything.

I woke up the next morning in bed with Georgia and instantly regretted it. I told her that we couldn't be together, but after that, she acted like she was Luna. Nox, my wolf, never agreed with the fact that I allowed her to behave like that, and we fought about it constantly. I just didn't waste my energy with her, though, since I had made it clear we wouldn't be together and we would never repeat that night.

It's Mating Ball season again. This year is the same as all the others—the only difference is my age. I'm 30 now, and a lot has happened since the first time I attended the ball. My schedule is packed, and I won't be able to arrive at the ball until later, but as usual, I will make my appearance and leave after fifteen minutes.

Georgia insists I should stay with her. I ignore her and get into the car for the long drive, with my Beta on the speaker discussing pack business and setting the final details for some urgent matters. I've gotten used to these drives over the years, but I've never given up hope of finding her.

I finally arrive at the Majestic Pack and, as usual, ignore everyone. I head to my room to change, but this time, it's different.

I smell her.

She's here.

I stand outside the building, trying to control Nox. When he finally settles down, I enter and see her. Her scent is divine. She's small and fragile-looking, but when she turns, my eyes fall on the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Her red lips are like an invitation, daring me to kiss them.

She's from Silver Moon. I recognize the Beta with her. I watch as she lets him know that she has seen me and wants to speak with me. But when he turns to leave, he tries to take her away from me. My mate doesn't move, telling him she needs to speak to me first. She then starts walking toward me.

I admire her with wide eyes, afraid to blink, as I fear I might be dreaming. I want to be the first to speak, so I say:

"Hello, mate."
