While I know everyone hopes for an Orson's POV epilogue for Blood On The Leaves, the more I thought about it the more I thought it would ruin the flow of the novel. Blood On The Leaves is Amory's story and a little epilogue in the POV of her antagonist just didn't feel right.
Blood On The Leaves is about an unreliable narrator manipulating everyone around her, including the audience (you). Amory is well aware of how crazy and bloodthirsty she is; she's just trying to hide it from the world and from the people reading it. She's my own personal Patrick Bateman- a real-life female serial killer that uses stereotypes of the pretty innocent rich girl as her cover to get away with things.
Murdering Manhattan elites and self-anointing herself as the Queen of the Upper East side has always been part of the plan, she just tricked you into feeling sorry for her and justifying her actions through the guise of revenge. Deep down she actually never cared about vindicating her parents or her family; she just wanted the throne.
So having insight into the other cast of characters, especially Orson, wouldn't make any sense. Nonetheless, I still think having an Orson's POV after the events of BOTL would be pretty cool and so I decided to create a separate piece of art in the form of a collection of short stories.
Long story short, I'm writing a bonus novella that will be a collection of various POVs, which is great because it'll allow me plenty of space to introduce and explore other characters. It helps tidy up some loose questions for the other characters aside from Amory, like what happened to Parker after she didn't get into Yale? What happened to Hanif and Aidan? Will Carmen ever get out of a mental health facility?
This bonus novella will be called 'Through The Late Night', and I've published the author note already! Add it to your libraries my thirty angels, because an Orson POV will definitely be coming soon! Chapters will be released slowly over the next coming weeks so stay tuned for that!
Thank you so much for all your support!
Much love,
Val.
