Miranda got ready for her parents' showcasing gala. They had a new collection centered around the holiday to prepare for Christmas gifts.
Ben and her had to show their faces. She hasn't seen much of Ben this week. They were on completely opposite schedules of each other with work. She did run into him in the kitchen around midnight on Saturday and she was not expecting him to come downstairs. She thought he was asleep. If she would have she would not have been wearing the thin skimpy black nightgown.
She couldn't get that night out of her head. It played on a loop in her mind. His hand around her wrist. The graze of his finger along her spine and the low rumble of his voice in her ear. He was simply stopping her from reaching the bowl out of the cabinet on the top shelf, saying he would get it but his touches lingered.
She zoned back into her conversation with Callie as she had her best friend on speakerphone. "I think the two of you should just have sex."
"What!" Miranda gasped putting on her foundation.
"Yeah, you gotta test drive before you commit...you don't want to be stuck with someone bad in bed. Although I don't think that would be Ben's problem. I bet he fucks like...
"Stop," Miranda demanded.
"What!?"
"We are not talking about this and I'm not thinking about this or entertaining it. We can't discuss this."
"Well, there isn't anything to discuss. You all haven't done the deed. You’ll have to do it eventually. If not before the wedding, then on the wedding night and honeymoon…unless you both plan on being celibate for the rest of your lives.”
Miranda wrinkled her nose as she put on her lipstick in silence, but a flutter of nerves cascaded through her stomach.
She could picture Ben's naked body against hers and her throat dried. "We barely know each other."
"Well, you would know him a lot better afterward."
Miranda stayed on the phone with her for a few more minutes. After she hung up she took a deep breath and double-checked her reflection. Her hair was half up and half down and she wore dangling earrings. She grabbed her phone and clutch before walking downstairs to the foyer.
Her breath hitched when she saw him. She never expected to be this much attracted to the doctor who pissed her off so badly on their first encounter. His head was into his phone as he stared at it.
"If you keep scowling like that your face will freeze that way." Miranda quipped.
Ben's eyes flicked up to her. "Very Fun-
"Wow, you look.....Nice." He found the words as he took in her off the shoulder split thigh dress. The velvety pitch of nice sent a thrill up her spine. Ben didn't take his eyes off of hers but his attention sparked every inch of her body with life.
"Thanks." Miranda blushed. "You do too." She added.
Ben gave her his arm and she placed her hand around it as the walked out of the house. He opened the car door for her and then got in behind her.
The driver began driving and they found themselves in silence again. "So how was work? I have barely seen you all week."
"Have you missed me?"
"Hardly." She retorted causing him to laugh. It wasn't a chuckle or a scuff but an honest laugh.
"You know I actually appreciate your fast comebacks...and to answer your question work has been a pain in the ass. It's difficult trying to run a company and be a doctor."
