(y/n)'s POV:
The text message I received caught me off guard.
'Don't go to that gala.' he wrote... Due the initials, I could easily figure out that it was Chrollo. I wondered... because I never gave him my phone number. Where did he get it? Because this is my private number. I have an other one for business which is public, but that phone is with Akari. Did she perhaps gave him my number? No... She wouldn't do such a thing even though she knows that-... No it wasn't her... She would ask me first as she always does whenever someone would like to get my private number.
Then it clicked... I remember last time when he visited me and asked me to make a reservation in the restaurant, it was him who gave me my phone. What if he got my number beforehand?
You little sly-...
Then I got another message from him. I opened my messages to see what he wrote.
'I'm serious.'
I raised a brow, clicking my tongue. "Why is he so against this gala?" I asked out aloud.
I won't let him hold me back from my will. I won't let him tell me what to do. "The nerve... ordering me around after disappearing for months." I muttered under my breath as I fixed my hair for one last time before putting away everything I needed to go out. "You're not going to control me as you wish..."
Murmuring some more curses under my nose as I exited my bedroom, I made my way outside to the car that was waiting for me. I didn't have to tell my driver where to go since I already discussed the details with him earlier today.
He drove off and as I traveled in the backseat I looked to my left, zoning out as I watched the nightlife of Yorknew city through the window. The lights, the cars, the tall buildings... It always put me at ease whenever I watched them.
My phone buzzed in my purse, causing me to snap out of my thoughts once again. It was another message frim Chrollo, but I didn't even bother to open it.
"Is there something wrong ma'am? You look upset." The driver looked me in the eye through the mirror on the middle and I shook my head.
"It's nothing serious. Thank you." I showed him a little smile and he nodded, proceeding to focus on driving.
A bit later we finally arrived to the adress and I stepped out of the car, walking down the path of the red carpet which led me inside the building. Paparazzis and journalists were surrounding me. They tried to ask me countless questions, but I ignored all of them as if they weren't even present. I wasn't in the mood for all this shit.
The security stepped aside, opening the door for me to enter the gala my business partner have organized.
Fancy decoration, and elegant furniture with luxurious food and drinks awaited me inside. Something that would easily amaze anyone, but not me. I was used to it and I didn't really care to be honest.
The gala wasn't half bad aside from the boring conversations and must interactions I had to make with others.
I can't even express how much I hate these snob people. They think they are better than everyone else just because they are rich, looking down on other people because they aren't good enough for their ridiculously high standards. Being a rich person myself I felt the urge to puke from their behaviour.
All those fake smiles and empty conversations... contests of who owns a bigger house or a better car, who won more money in the casino...
Disgusting...
There were barely a few people here I knew. I also found it quite weird that there were a lots of armed men surrounding us. Way too much to my liking... I mean, it's okay that you want good security and avoid the chance of getting everything ruined by an idiot, but isn't this a bit too much? For me it was. There wasn't a single corner in this place which was empty. Men with guns stood everywhere like ice statues, watching every single movements the guests made through their pitch black glasses.
