Promise Of A Ring

January sixteenth, what a splendid day

I finally became yours in every which way

To have and to hold

Our story untold

I promised to love you until I would die.

I placed you up high

And gave you it all

Just for you to make me feel small.

I cried for days

But not in your perceived ways

I do not miss you

But there is someone I do,

The child of your sister,

Who was abandoned her mister,

Right after his birth.

The truth will unearth

As time goes on

That you never loved me quiet like the other Jon.

You wanted my riches

So you could leave me broken in ditches

Sex and head

I wished myself dead

Just a few months into it

I wanted to split.

The scars are there,

A sign of your affair,

You left me for her,

Oh so immature,

She moved in

And you started to sin

While I lay quiet

Planning my riot.

Hit you where it hurt

Leave you in the dirt

That's all I wanted.

Plans stuck and haunted

My every dream.

Then came my scream

Of relief the day of

When you, so in love,

Showed up to court

With all plans to thwart

The judge's choice

To allow me to rejoice.

Jokes on you

He saw right through

Your little games

And left your remains

With your dignity

For all to see

Laid out on the street

Mashed into the concrete.

You failed and lied

Trying to save your pride

But you forgot one thing

The broken promise of a ring.

I hope you give it to her

And drown your sorrows in beer

As you slowly realize,

There could have been compromise

And your belongings could have been kept

But instead you wept

At the loss of your items once beloved,

Now mine as I ungloved

My hand from your filth.
