Prompt: Write 500 words for your main project (WIP).
Of the Ocean is my main WIP at the moment as A Soulmate's Game is now in the editing stages! So, here is where I currently am with chapter 23 after writing 500 words :) I stopped right at 500, but continued writing of course because I got inspired. Of the Ocean
"Get out of the way you idiot," Brooke sneered. Shoulders rolling back, he stood his ground in front of her. "What? Did you have a change of heart? Are you trying to be the good guy now?"
Her laugh reverberated throughout the space before stopping quickly when she jabbed forward. She laughed again and again as she kept forcing the knife forward toward him. Adrian was able to dodge each one with just millimeters between his body and the blade.
The girls, Hudson, and River all shared looks before Kai spoke, "I would bet my life that this is another joke. He's in on it, C. We need to go now while they think they have us."
Both siblings continued their dance. Brooke screamed and laughed while Adrian continued flinging himself away from her jabs. For the last minute that they went at each other, not once did he pull anything out to defend himself. Kai's statement started to make more and more sense to Cordelia as she watched the two people who'd betrayed her the most.
River nudged the girls, garnering their attention to lead them slowly to the crafts while Hudson did his best to shield them. Kai and Sierra stepped through the door of theirs and quietly sat snugly into the comfortably cushioned seats. These were much different than the ones that Adrian had shown them when they were planning. Even the ones they actually brought to the scene of their scheme.
Those looked much cheaper and older. It made sense at the time. He had told them that he would steal the crafts so that no one would notice. Looking around, she could tell he was right at the time but she still wondered why he told her the things that he did. Kai had even backed up much of it, showing that he wasn't lying most of the time. At least, he didn't lie about the outer world, about everything outside of Rayanori.
"C, come on," River whispered, pulling her from the thoughts. "We have to go."
"What about Hudson?" She looked over to her brother, still standing tall. He was determined to keep them from noticing and did not once look back to check on those he was saving.
River followed her eyes before taking both of her wrists to pull her closer, "He's coming. He'll jump in last second. We need to get you in first."
It took a moment longer to get her away, but she finally nodded and went willingly. The quicker she got in and set, the quicker they could all take off together. River would most likely have already prepped Hudson well enough to jump in and take off without issue. A click sounded from the belt that River pulled over her torso quickly.
Each side burned a bit as it tightened to her chest, "Is it supposed to hurt?" She wiggled in her seat.
River laughed to himself quietly, "You'll get used to it."
The rumbling of the crafts yanked both Brooke and Adrian from their battle. Barely
