The reunion of Nick, Matilda, Alistair and Wylie was a grand one. However, their journey wasn't over just yet.
Still stuck in the void of an afterlife, Nick and Ella were searching for a way out, while Nick was having trouble believing they weren't still dreaming.
And as the five continued walking through the void, they thought it'd stretch on forever.
"This can't just stretch on forever," Wylie sighed. "I'm so tired. Can we stop for a break, maybe?"
"Your legs are just small. Catch up." Alistair, even in death, tried to keep up a rivalry with Wylie.
"Alistair." Matilda snapped behind her, warning him to stay kind.
"Fine, sorry." Alistair threw his hands up in defense.
"I think Wylie's right," Nick exhaled. "Might just be the old person mindset, but we have been walking for too long."
"Old? Aren't you, like, 24?" Wylie asked.
"Twenty-six, but that's flattering." Nick snorted, sitting on the ground. "Let's all just take a breather."
Everyone sat down, Ella in front of Nick. "I don't think you're that old."
"Kid, you're gonna go through life thinking that everyone's not that old, and then you get to my age and a teenager comes walking through your office able to crack her knuckles without wincing."
"Hey!" Ella laughed, flapping her hands. "So, when we get back to, you know, real life, what's the next show gonna be?"
"Mmm..." Nick was thinking about that one. "Hey, what do you guys think she should do? To show her powers?"
"She should make you float, Nick." Alistair giggled.
"Hell to the no!" Nick chuckled, jabbing him gently in the stomach.
"I mean, it would show how she's able to handle weight." Wylie put his hand to his chin. "Personally, I'd love to see it."
"Oh, that's right." Matilda pointed out. "We don't even know what you look like nowadays."
God, this was so surreal. Nick's mind had to be playing with them, right? When would the questions stop? "Eh, haven't changed much." Come on. Wake up, right now. This has been enough for one night.
"Nick, look." Wylie pointed ahead, to a moving orange light. "Check it out. Light. We should go over there."
"Is that fire? Or not? Do you think someone's over there?" Matilda stood up quickly, bringing Wylie up with her. "Come on!"
Matilda started to run, and Alistair, Nick and Ella stood up. "Hey, wait!" Ella called, taking Nick and Alistair with her.
The light was indeed fire, but it wasn't what anyone thought it was. The five of them were face to face with five other people, two of them being blobs of what Nick immediately realized was semifluid matter, and one of them was fire. Like, a person made out of fire.
"Woah!" Pyro stepped back. "Where did you guys come from? Are you more Inhabitants?"
"Pyro, they cannot be, remember?" Xudio brought a single hand up, though he was skeptical of them himself.
"Oh. Right."
"Where'd you come from?" Morgan asked, leaning forward. "How did you all die?"
"Well, uh, two of us didn't." Alistair pointed to Nick and Ella.
Nick was pointing at Pyro, Xudio and River. "You're made of that semifluid matter. And you—you're made of fire. How is that possible? It shouldn't even be possible!"
