Time Again

Mindless Nights

I finally arrive home after the unproductive day I had. I take my shoes off and head upstairs to my room to decompress. I drop my bag and and left my keys on my dresser. I sit down on the floor and scroll through social media. I follow more of photography pages and just watched mindless TikTok's. After some time went by, I went downstairs. I made my way to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. I grabbed the left over food and made myself a plate of it. I put it in the microwave and waited for it to heat up. I took it out of the microwave and proceeded to head to the dining table. I sat there and ate my food in silence.

"How was school?" Cayden asked while he was setting his food down.

"Boring as useful.. You?" I replied as I took a bite of the chicken.

"My day is the same as always." Cayden states as he starts to take a bite out of his food.

"Katelyn hasn't come here in awhile. Are y'all doing okay?" I ask Cayden, Katelyn is Cayden's girlfriend. She is a sweet kid who is active. She loves to talk and honestly, I'm kind of jealous, knowing that Cayden is in a relationship before me is heartbreaking.

"We are doing okay. She has been busy with her little sister recently." Cayden replies.

I nod my head to acknowledge him as I start to get up. I grab my plate and clean my dishes. I start to day dream of a life in which someone cared about me, not sibling or family love. But, someone who likes me romantically. I broke out of the trance as I felt my hand starting to burn.

"Shit!" I yelled as I dropped the plate and wrapped my hand in a rag.

I took care of the damage on my hand by turning the knob on the sink to cold water. I waited for the water to cool then proceeded to put my hand underneath the water. I groan as the cold water slides down my red skin from the burn. After the cool water eased the pain, I wrapped my hand in a rag. I started to head up the stairs. I went to my room to get ready for a shower. I got my sleeping wear and towel then began to head to the bathroom. I closed the door and turned on the water to get the water warm. I brushed my teeth waiting for the water to warm up. I took my sweet time as usual, I went deep in thought again with the prolonging questions,

These question then slightly become every more serious,

What's wrong with me?

Why am I not good enough?

The list of the life dreading questions ramble on until I get a knock on the door from someone yelling they needed the bathroom. I was nearly finished and just rinsed off all the soap. I got out of the shower and wrapped myself in a towel. I changed real quickly and headed to my room. When I got there, I stared into my elongated mirror. I sat and stared at myself. I looked at the first thing that caught my attention, my eyes. The honey brown, but when light hits it just right, green eyes would appear. I saw myself have a piercing straight at me. As I felt water fall down onto my feet my attention went to my hair. My hair was dark with little hints of an amber red. I broke the trance by looking out the window. The moon was to the right of the window. It was just a waxing crescent, although the moon wasn't that pretty to look at, I still get lost in it. I opened my window and looked down. I reached my hand down out the window seeing if the little overhang roof was wet. Gratefully it wasn't. I grabbed my phone and airpods then went onto the roof. I put on some random songs that were just recommended for me on Spotify and sat for some time on the roof.

As time passed I went inside. I plugged in my phone and airpods. The window was open which led me to closing the window back. I turned off the lights in my room and headed to my bed. I tried to sleep but of course, I wasn't able to. I sat for sometime in the dark. I started looking to the right side of me. I tossed and turned until the mindless night took me into their arms.
