Welcome to a new Séa and Tash adventure! Feel free to just skip forward and start reading. I'm just dropping a few notes on setting here. For some, it might be helpful.
The story underpinnings resemble Dungeons and Dragons, the popular and long-lived medieval fantasy role-playing game. For example, Séa is a paladin, a religious warrior. Tash is a rogue, a lock-picking, sneaky jill-of-all-trades. Wizards, fighters, rangers, and druids are also valid careers.
We also have a multiplanar cosmogony (just to be polysyllabic about it). Planes of existence important for this story include:
The material plane contains the regular, gritty world of dirt, plants, and animals that we know. The twist is that magic works, and humans share the earth with other free folk such as elves, Halflings, dwarves, gnomes, and various half-breeds.
The Abyss contains many other planes of existence, each ruled by a demon planelord.
Celestia is home to powerful (but not all-powerful) creatures referred to as gods. Two in particular are important for this story. Torugg One-Eye is the Odinesque god of faithfully plugging along, enduring hardship, and defeating evil by punching it in the snoot. Gisaleppi is the trickster god. Most often manifesting on the material plane as a spritely female Halfling, Giasleppi loves the gambler, the practical joker, and the con artist.
The story takes place in the country of Omnius and specifically in its capital city, Ompex. Our heroines, Séa and Tash, don't know the city well, and have just returned from a caper in which they killed a high-ranking demon. Though they would wish otherwise, the women are rapidly gaining a reputation as demon hunters, and their arrival in Ompex has been observed - and noted with concern.
