Soft purrs of the air conditioner vibrated through the apartment while the slight sound of the clock in the living room ticked. It was nearing eight in the morning and the sun was rising, it's rays of light peering between the cracks of the curtains.
The light from the sun shined on Iones' half asleep frame, causing her skin to heat up. A soft moan escaped her lips as she turned to her side, rubbing her eyes with her hands to block the sun from her eyes.
"What happened last night?" she whined, cupping her cheeks in her palms and softly massaging them. "Everything hurts. I feel like I got ran over by a bus"
Rileys' head fell back in laughter as he walked into the living room with a glass and pills in head, "it's called a hangover, Regina George."
Ione huffed at Rileys' Mean Girl quote and slowly forced herself up into sitting position. Her vision was blurry as she struggled to focus clearly in front of her. Her cheeks were warm while her head buzzed, continuous thumps pounding in her temples.
"I'm never drinking again," she muttered, slightly gagging in between each word. Riley sat on the edge of the air mattress besides Iones' lap and chuckled, "I can recall saying that thousands of times."
Ione rolled her eyes slowly and took the glass from his hand, moaning as the water cooled the inside of her mouth and down her dry throat. She closed her eyes and downed the cup of water while inhaling and exhaling slowly out through her nose.
"Feeling up for breakfast? I know you're hung over but there's this amazing place on the boardwalk near Santa Monica."
Letting herself fall back, Ione snuggled into her pillow trying to drown out the banging in her head mixed with Riley's voice. "Right this second?" she asked.
"No," he chuckled, "I'm sure everyone would prefer if you brushed your teeth and showered first."
Ione laughed and flung her pillow at Riley, "you jerk."

"Where are you off to next?" Kyle asked wiping the corner his mouth with the light blue cloth.
Ione stabbed her eggs with the tip of her fork and dipped them into the ketchup on the side of her plate. She closed her eyes as she chewed her food, savoring the taste in her mouth. It took an hour and a half for Riley to pry Ione off the couch and shove her into the shower.
Hangovers were rare for Ione, however, when she had one all she wanted to do was burrow herself in blankets with a bucket beside her until her stomach was empty of alcohol.
After Riley's annoying cries of his 'perfect hangover cure', Ione threw her hair up into a bun and changed into a t-shirt and shorts, with her sunglasses to block out the beating sun. His theory of breakfast proved to be right. Besides the throbbing of her head and the sun hurting her covered eyes, breakfast helped the nausea she felt and eased the hungry craving at the bottom of her stomach.
"I will never understand your love for that combination," Riley said shaking his head with his glass of orange juice pressed to his lips. Ione stared at Riley with playful eyes before placing her fork of eggs and ketchup in front of his face.
Riley scrunched his nose and shoved her fork away from his face, making the eggs fall onto the table cloth. Ione frowned and stared at her helpless eggs splattered across the table.
"You wasted it," she said before scooping it up on the fork and into her mouth. Kyle and Riley froze staring at her in shock, with their forks frozen above their plates. "Five second rule," Ione shrugged with amused eyes, "and I don't know where I'm going next."
