RAIN
My eyes widened at the sight of Phayu by my side and quickly held my breath as he pulled me closer. I stretch my neck away from him but to my luck, he snuggled his face against it. The sensation of his lips on my skin made me shiver, this is bad. I have to get away before my body reacts.
"Five more minutes..." I gasped as Phayu's breath landed on my neck, my goodness this is too much.
Taking a deep breath, I was able to push myself away from this clingy man. However, forgetting the bed size, I fell on my ass causing a loud thud on the wooden floor.
"Ah-ow..." I moaned in pain, I can't remember the last time I fell on the bed.
"Oppa, are you okay?" a child's voice asked as the door opened making me turn to it.
"Good morning sleepy head hyung!" another child greeted.
"More like drinkie head." I heard the other commented.
"Dwunkie head." the youngest repeated as they laughed in sync.
"I'm okay Jea. Good morning too Jio. And Jia, stop saying weird things. You know Jun can hear you." I said as the triplets and Jun went to me for a good morning kiss.
"Breakfast's ready, papa told us to call you and the other oppa." Jea informed me while hugging my neck...
Our family of five was once a typical one, the type that never stood out in the neighborhood. However, according Sunny, our eldest, everything changed after dad divorced our father. And yes, I have two dads. Our dad was originally from Korea while the father that left us was from Thailand making us use honorifics at home. Since dad was the one who raised us, we ended up using Korean honorifics instead of the latter. This also explains why the kids call us hyung, oppa, noona, and eonni.
After five years of marriage and a month before our surrogate mother was about to give birth to me, father left the house for some personal reason. This caused a lot of drama in the family and it wasn't the good type of drama. According to my sisters, Sunny and Winter, dad eventually got depressed and had to receive treatment. Then, when I was born, dad somehow recovered and that's when our family began moving on.
Dad never told us the real reason and we never had the heart to even ask because even I could see how much he was heartbroken when the man he loved decided to leave.
Sunny (now 29) and Winter (now 27) left the house for work, leaving only the two of house in the huge house. It was definitely cold without them but we managed to be happy. I was always worried when leaving the house to go to school because of dad's condition until luckily, our aunt Jolin decided to leave the then two-year-old triplets into his care when she got a job overseas. Slowly, our silent house started to become lively again. Adding Jun to the family, I was able to leave the house to work at Air Bank.
The triplets, Jio, Jia, and Jea are now ten years old and Jun, on the other hand, is three years old and is aunt Thea's son who passed away after childbirth. Both of their parents are my father's sisters.
Every now and then, my sisters and I would come home and celebrate the holidays and special occasions with everyone which often leads to a chaotic night of silly games and alcohol.
..
Chatter filled the room as all of us sat around the dining table and I can't help but feel a sense of awkwardness with Phayu sitting by my side, on my left. With dad sitting on the end of the table, Sunny sat on his left while feeding Jun. Winter, on the other side of the table, was busy giving the triplets their food as they sat beside her.
My head began hurting and I really can't recall what happened last night that led to Phayu sleeping in my bed, with me. All I remember is driving here after picking up the cake I ordered, having fun, eating some weird food my sisters made, and having wine.
"I see you're sober." I heard dad say making me turn to him and flash an awkward smile.
"Eat as much as you want." Dad added with his typical calm smile.
