England, 1868...

Dario Brando POV

Jackpot! JACKPOT! In all my long years, I never thought I'd come across something like this! I let out a laugh before commenting "Woah! Look at that wreck!" In front of me was the remains of a carriage that must have slipped from the cliff due to the rain.

The driver and horses were clearly dead already

The driver and horses were clearly dead already. Not to mention the body of a woman sticking out of the window. Glancing at the driver I pointed out "Yikes! This guy died on the spot! They must have slipped in the mud and fell off the cliff!" Again, I couldn't state enough how lucky this was for me! If all were dead then it would be easy pickings.

My attention shifted to a man lead on his back nearby, it was here I noticed "But boy do these nobles have some fancy clothes." The air around us was suddenly pierced by that of a baby wailing.

My companion, not even that, she was just some woman from a nearby bar, stated. "Look! The woman inside is dead, but the baby is still alive! She must have protected it!" My head snapped to her as I scowled.

I had a brat of my own, probably about the same age as the one here. Not to mention that wife of mine was supposedly expecting another. I spat "A baby?! Who cares about a baby?!" My attention turned back to the man in front of me. More specifically the ring around his finger.

This event was a literal goldmine, the wedding ring alone would fetch me a hefty sum. I reached for it and began to slowly pull. This caused the woman to exclaim "What are you doing?!" I snapped in response "What does it look like?! I'm taking their jewellery!"

As I was returning to that task though, I noticed a case just next to the man. "What's that?" My hands extended out, unlocking the latches on the case before opening it up. I'd hoped to find something of value inside. Instead, there was nothing but some mask.

Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be made of common stone. Nothing special. I commented "What a creepy mask? It's worthless to me." Tossing the case aside I ordered "Give me a hand! We're gonna yank their teeth out! They'll fetch a good price!"

Just as I extended my hand out though, the man's eyes snapped open. He gripped me hand and gasped out weakly "You... You came to rescue me... Thank you..." For a moment, I was stunned into silence as the man asked "My wife... My wife and son... Are they alright?"

I stammered for a response, did this guy honestly think I was here to help him? Eventually I settled on "Uh, I'm afraid your wife and the driver are dead. But the baby is safe." At this revelation, the man simply closed his eyes, tears poured from his eyes, though this may have been hard to notice with the pouring rain.

He solemnly said "Perhaps, this is fate. My name is George Joestar I. I must thank you for saving my life. Please, tell me your name while I'm still conscious." Again I was shocked that he'd completely misread the situation, but, this could play to my advantage. I tried my best to hold back a chuckle, the fool.
