Despite how much of a worked up wreck I was, I had promised Lacy I would come see her as soon as possible, so I recklessly drove the short time to her house, blasting my favorite band, Three Days Grace, and trying not to have a breakdown.
Upon my arrival, Lacy tried to run to me even though I could see the pain in her face. I wrapped her in a big bear hug, not caring that it hurt a lot. "I'm sorry Princess. I am so, so sorry." Tears swelled in my eyes as I heard my princess crying. Being the cause of her pain was not okay. I guided her into the house and was enveloped in a bigger hug by her parents and then just her dad, who whispered in my ear, "I know you blame yourself for this. Don't. We don't blame you at all." That was it for me. I broke. I started sobbing into my girlfriend's father's arms and soon felt the comfort of Lacy's familiar hand on my shoulder. Then between sobs, I explained what happened with my mom. "I thought your face was too red", Lacy said. "You're welcome to stay here as long as you like", her mom said in the saddest voice I've ever heard out of that woman. I thanked them but declined for the time being. I had somewhere else I needed to go at the moment. After many hugs and kisses from Lacy, I departed, promising to visit again soon. Then I was off for the somewhat long drive to my grandma's house.
