Harry
-The wind burns past me, there's no feeling like it. Like knowing it's so close to my skin but won't touch it. Like knowing it's so strong that if I let go it wouldn't wait to push me off. My eyes used to water from the harshness coming at me at full force, now I just welcome it.
There's also nothing like an engine revving between your thighs. Definitely a feeling I've gotten used to. One I'm not even sure how I lived without for so long.
I look over my right shoulder, making sure it's clear to pass. I do it swiftly, smoothly, following right up Viper's ass. We're the only two who are late to the meeting, and if we could have meetings like these specific ones all the time, I'd be an extremely happy man. So would all the brothers.
There's only one thing troubling me though. The fact that I had a shit nights sleep last night. Completely fucked. All because I couldn't apologise to a girl so moody she makes my head spin. Growing up learning to not go to bed mad has done a complete three-sixty and definitely bitten me on the ass.
She was infuriating last night. She always is. I've kept my eye on her almost my whole life and yet within that time, I've somehow missed the pivotal moment she became her own person. There's no one like her. Her shitty attitude. Her short temper. The way she needs to get the last word in. Her honesty.
I rev harder on the bike and soon settle beside Viper. Rides normally help with clearing my head plenty, it's never not really worked the way I've wanted it to. Except now. Simply because I didn't get my way.
We veer left, towards the parking lot to the corner strip. An old library resides there, playing its part of old historical building. Of concealing what lies beneath. It has the town fooled, and for that, I give major props to Kade for pulling through with the idea.
The Realm is Filthy Freaks territory and nothing but. It's a hidden place for a reason. Shit happens here. Things get done. Plans get confirmed. All with a prime view. Viper manages the place and there's no man better for the job. It's his sanctuary.
The lineup of the boys' bikes are up ahead, and both Viper and I slide right up onto the end, parking ours next to theirs. As the engines turn off, I inhale the scent and remind myself of how simple things can make one happy. Like the smell of an engine.
"That's the smell of serenity, motherfucker." Viper shouts up into the darkened sky.
I swing a leg off the bike and grin, "Ain't nothin' better." There's probably a thousand better things, actually, but that's a list I'd rather not create.
Tugging my belt buckle, I throw a look to Viper as we both near the side entrance door, the one that hides away down the alley. "Think this will go well? That we'll finally have an outcome?" I ask him.
His darkened hair flops around as he shakes his head, "Not a fuckin' chance. Bet we're just gonna go over the same bullshit and leave even more confused than we are now." I couldn't agree more, the man's got a serious point. "Also haven't been back to check on this place properly yet, Kade's got me doin' all types of shit. Gotta check in with Christopher tonight. Make sure he hasn't fucked things up without me."
"Surely you'd know if he's fucked up anythin'?" I question, the both of us coming to a halt outside the door. I place a hand beside it, onto the brick, for balance whilst Viper gives it a knock or two.
