Princesses hope

Troubled Gaze

                                                                Chapter 1

The warm sun shone onto Princesses tabby pelt, her green eyes looking longingly. Its been many many moons since she had seen her litter mate and beloved kit, they promised to visit but she had not heard from them since his brother had became leader, was everything alright?

 she decided to check for her self, she got up from the window sill and unsheathed her claws, beginning to scratch at the back door, the female Housefolk scolded her but obliged. she struggled to up the fence but got it in a few tries but before she could go any farther a strange figure jumped beside her, It was her mate, Oliver! "Where are you going, love?" the white tom murmured as he looked at her questioningly"Oh, just to the forest to visit my son and my brother" She meowed in reply, her tail high in the air, a cold breeze almost knocking her off her white paws "Be careful, you know how those ruffians get when outsiders go into their territory's"  Oliver said loudly"Don't worry, I'll be fine" Princess meowed thoughtfully at her mate,before ending the conversation by jumping off her fence, landing on the soft lawn of the neighboring  nest. She climbed the next fence and instead then again and again until she was at the Twoleg path which divided the Twoleg place and the lush forest but.. it was different, you could smell scent markers from many tail lengths away but this time.. Princess smelled none.She took a closer look and almost fell to her paws with what she saw,  Many huge tree-eaters with there necks in the ground *B-but they have never moved out of the cutting place..* she thought to herself in despair, twirling around she saw bare ground and tree stumps for miles"No! no no no!" she cried to herself"its not fair, I thought Twolegs were supposed to be friends with the forest" She fell to her paws giving up her strength. She lay there for a day, though it felt like moons to the grieving she-cat "I need to find them.. If Twolegs took them perhaps some may have been adopted here" She mumbled as she walked with her tail dragging in the dust.She went back the way she came, jumping fences until she got to Oliver's house, where he was sitting on the fence waiting for her "how did it go" he asked, Princess did not say a thing, she just looked blankly at her paws *At least one of them have to be here, If they weren't taken by force he would have told me* she was lost in thought until Oliver jumped beside her "Didn't go well" he asked, Princess still did not want to respond, she had to focus on finding her brother or it might be to late "Take a look for yourself" she responded at last"I need to find them" She mumbled tearing up "Find who?" The white tom responded looking sympathetic but confused "My brother and kit" she meowed gently "And his clan, if there are any left" Oliver added "you know that wasn't the only clan" princess told him gently, remembering what her older brother had told her "there were Riverclan, Shadowclan, Thunderclan, my brothers clan, and.. Windclan, there is also Starclan" Her voice broke as she remembered her kit saying he would be the most powerful Thunderclan warrior, what if he is the supposed Starclan now? "What is Starclan?" Oliver asked, distracting Princess from her thoughts"Firestar said it was where clan warriors go when they die" meowed Princess,Oliver looked amazed, he had never thought about where cats had went when they died, he had just thought all goes black"They watch over warriors, I'm pretty sure" Princess added, looking down at her paws*Do they only watch over warriors? maybe they could watch over us too. either way I need to find them* she thought, as if Oliver read her mind he replied "Go then, go find your loved ones, I will come with you" He meowed understandingly "I need to do this alone" She replied, still looking at her paws "Fine, then you may go, good luck, Princess" He murmured She nodded her thanks as she jumped off the high fence onto the roof of her house, she could see all of the neighboring Twoleg nests there, she saw a tree in the garden of an orange, two story house, with a black roof and brown door, there was a cat laying on a rail which Twolegs held onto going down the stairs, Princess could not see what the cat looked like but she didn't care, she NEEDED to stay on task, there was a large and tall tree in the garden of the other kittypet, she would be able to see all the houses from there, so thats where she shall go. She jumped a fence, landing on a cat, It was one of her neighboring cats, Tiger! a brown tabby tom "Ah jeez what was that for!" Tiger scoffed glaring at princess "I'm not in the mood." Princess mewed "Yeah, that's why you decided to jump on me huh?" Tiger responded hostility, princess didn't respond instead she just walked off, she was getting ready to jump when the heavy tom jumped up on her, biting her neck "Get off me! she cried, her claws unsheathed but she didn't know how to fight! It didn't make a difference the tabby's thick coat was as hard as diamonds, Tiger didn't feel a thing as princess scratched him, struggling and squirming until princess had an idea, she exposed her belly then kicked with her hind legs, she's not strong by any means but it was just enough to give her a second to run, she had to make the jump over the fence the first time or she would be Crowfood, she made it, barely, and fell into the next garden, the one with the tree and strange cat,  "Hello?" the strange tom called "Hello?" Princess called back, the cat jumped of the rail it was on onto a soft bush then went to meet princes, It was a black and white spotted tom with blue eyes "Hi! my name is Smudge" He smiled Princess halted "My name is Princess" She exclaimed "Well what do you need?" Smudge asked, polite yet curios "I'm looking for a cat named Firestar, He's my brother, have you seen him anywhere?" Smudge looked taken aback but he gave a curt nod before sitting down "We used to be best friends, we would often meet, his old Twoleg house was there" He pointed with his muzzle to the neighboring house "That's very nice bu-" Smudge cut her off and continued "The last time I saw him is when he told his patrol not to harm me when I was having strange dreams, but that was many moons ago" He mumbled shuffling his paws before adding "Though that was many many moons ago" he looked at Princess with sympathy and understanding, princess could sense he knew about the forest too "I smelled them many moons ago, alot of them, and also a huge monster, but I only smelled one or two cats in the monster" Smudge looked up at the setting sun as if he wished he could speak to Firestar as well, at least that confirmed Princesses thoughts of him knowing about the broken forest, Princesses troubled gaze traveled back to her paws, Smudge must have noticed because he rested his bushy tail on her back "Hey, It will be okay, would you like me to help you look for them?" He asked with an obvious fake smile, but fake or not it cheered princess up a bit "I'd like that, thank you Smudge" She meowed, they got up and walked side by side, until princess unsheathed her claws and began to climb the tree, it wasn't long until she was at the top, the curvy branches were fragile but she managed, she squeaked triumphantly "Smudge, I can see everything up here, there are a lot of Twoleg nests though" Princess continued "We should split up and meet at the dried riverbed at dawn. She finished as she jumped down from the tree, landing elegantly, her bell jingling alerted the near by dog, it barked and howled, and scratched until its Twoleg yelled at it to go back inside "Disgusting mutt" Smudge meowed to himself but loud enough to where princess could hear it, she let out a purr of amusement "Well then you can go search in the way of the Mutt and I'll go this way, she pointed to the large dogs house, and then to a 3 story house with Twoleg kits "Fine" Smudge mumbled as he rolled his eyes, jumping the fence, Princess could only hear the dog barking again through the closed door of its Twoleg nest she chuckled then jumped the fence *Oh, great, this is Grey's house* she bounded towards the fence hoping to leave before she was spotted or smelled but she was too late, he jumped off of his outdoor cat post and bounded towards princess "What are you doing here" He hissed "it's none of your bushiness!" Princess bit back gently "Oh shut up, it is my business cause its MY territory!" he growled before letting out a contemptuous snort "Well if your so eager to leave, then leave me alone" Princess meowed calmly, she didn't want to be rude but he wasn't giving her much of a choice, before he could say more she ran towards the fence and jumped, she was getting better at it each leap "Coward" she could hear Gray yell as she left At this point I would have rather took my chance with the dog she thought, luckily the next house only had Twolegs and their kits but they were not home so it was nice and quiet, she was getting hungry so she wanted to see if they had any cat food left out, she often saw loners here so she wouldn't be surprised, there was none in the front of the house so she checked the garden, she jumped the small gate and the different smells almost made her tremble over, sweet scents, sour scents, they had everything it felt like, but not what she was looking for she turned around and there was a full food dish and some water, she paced forward a few steps until she was right in front of the bowl "Finally, I was starving" She meows to herself with her mouth full of the bland yet delicious food, she finishes the bowl and trots away to the next house, no cats lived there either, so she swiftly jumped over the fence then bounds over and jumps again, now she was in a new house, one she had not recognized..  To be continued    

Quick authors note: Hello! This is my first story so its not going to be very good, but I'm trying, also this chapter is going to be much shorter than the others, I also made this at like- 2 AM so it's probably gonna be a bit cringe
