"Audrey! Come on!" I shook my six-year old sister awake.

"Bridget? What's happening?" She asked as she rolled over and opened her eyes.

"We have to go. Pack your clothes. Don't waste time." I told her before I ran into my room.

The dead were rising and they were roaming the empty streets. They were bitting other people, making them turn into smelly dead corpses. It was like a horror movie. That morning I woke up to a scream, down the street was a burning house. Dad rushed into my room and told me to wake up Audrey to pack our stuff. We only had ten minutes.

I packed all my jeans, sweaters, jackets, T-shirts, and a few beanies I had. Which was most of my wardrobe. I slipped on my blue converse and stuffed a few books in my bag. I packed mostly Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and a few chronicles of Narnia.

I put two bags by the stairs and ran back into Audrey's room. As I ran in she let out a big yawn and popped open her dress drawer. I stopped her and took it all out.

"Hey!" She yelled

"We don't have time to pack dresses Audrey!" I yelled back

I packed a few of her leggings and long sleeve shirts, jeans, T-shirts and three sweaters. I packed two of her dresses because she loves them. I through her blanket and a pillow in my extra suitcase with the other blankets and pillows for dad, mom and me. I also packed her doll just in case.

Dad was in the garage, putting our stuff inside the van as we got in. Mom buckled Audrey in her booster seat. I helped dad before I got in the back seat with Audrey. Dad got drivers seat, mom in passenger and me and Audrey in the back. I noticed a little hand pistol in dads hand. I looked over to mom. She had her purse with her. She opened it and handed me a knife.

"Don't use it unless you need to." She told me as she held it so I could grab it.

"Okay." I nodded as I slipped it in my back pack.

We sped past many people, not helping anyone. I could here them all crying or help as the living dead feasted on there flesh. We got near the middle of town when we noticed a crash had happened up ahead.

A school bus and a few cars were spread across the road, I'm not sure how it happened but the bus was up in flames. There as a man in a neon orange and yellow vest. The driver. He was leaned forward on the wheel. He was burned to death.

"Stay here." Dad yelled at us. He handed mom the gun, " if anything comes near the car, you shoot it."

"Dad!"

"Daddy!" Audrey yelled as dad ran toward the bus. As mom shifted to the drivers seat.

There was someone stuck under one of the cars. Dad was the only one trying to help him. But once you looked close enough, you could tell it wasn't a man. His face was peeling, teeth yellowed. Reaching for dad as if it was asking for help. If you looked into his eyes, they were glazed all over. Dad reached for his hand.

"Dad no!" I screamed as I unbuckled my seat belt and tried to get out of the car.

I watched in horror as the dead body chewed my dads arm.

"Aaron!" My mom yelled.

I flung my door open and ran to dad. I was stopped by mom wrapping her arms around me.

"Mom! We need to help him!" I screamed.

Dad got away from the dead man. He fell to the ground holding his bloody arm. He looked at us.

"Take the kids and leave!" He yelled.

Mom put her hand on my shoulder. I could feel it shaking. She handed the gun the me.
