At the Hodgsons

"What about a green nursery?" Jack said while scrolling through some ideas for the nursery on his laptop, Nikki sat besides him at the kitchen table eating an apple.

"Green? Are you serious? Green reminds me of vomit." Nikki replied while a grimace crept on her face, she took a bite from the apple and looked at the laptop screen.

"Everything reminds you of vomit." Jack replied while getting a bit frustrated.

"That's not true!"

"Nik, i showed you over 5 different ideas for the nursery and everything i show you is either too girly or like this is reminds you of vomit."

"Look, pink is too girly, i don't see you cradling a baby in a full pink room with also a pink crib."

Jack lets out a sigh and rolls his eyes. "I honestly don't care about the color, for me it's about our baby in the room not the color!"

Nikki moves the laptop in front of her and scrolls through her pinterest wall, her eyes fall on a purplish soft color with a touch of blue. "What about this one? This one i do like, it's not to purple but also not to blue."

Jack looks at the screen and nods. "I like that." Jack moves the laptop in front of him and switches to another tab which showed a number of nursery furniture. "Should we then buy all white furniture?"

Nikki nods at him with a smile on her face. "White is good, it's natural."

"Great, we're finally got somewhere. I will make sure to order the paint in the color we want and i think we can pick it up somewhere this week, maybe i can start painting next weekend, i'll ask my da for some help, he loves painting."

"What about the furniture? Are we going to order that too?" Nikki quizzes.

"We'll order it. There's a 2 weeks delivery time so the weekend after the next we can let them deliver and slowly begin to put everything together."

"So i about two weeks we'll officially have a nursery? Isn't that a bit early? We only discovered yesterday we're having a girl." Nikki said with a small giggle.

Jack smiled and wraps an arm around her shoulder. "We better have it ready early." Nikki nods and relaxes in his grip. "But you aren't doing a thing, i really want you to take it easy."

Nikki rolls her eyes at him. "Come on, i want to help put together the crib!" Nikki whines.

"We'll look at it in two weeks, okay?"

"Fine."

Jack chuckles and kissed her cheeks. "She'll be in our arms in 20 weeks."

"Mhm yes she will."

10 weeks later

The sound of Jack's phone ringing woke both himself and Nikki up, Jack groaned in his pillow and withdrawals himself from Nikki to pick up his phone.

"Hodgson."

"We've got a case Jack, 4 dead. Bring Nikki too please, i need an extra pair of hands." Gabriel said on the other end of the phone.

"Is that a good idea? I thought only paperwork duties?"

Nikki, who of course didn't take her rest enough, got a stern talk with the midwife a few days ago on their 30 week ultrasound, her blood pressure was too high and she clearly was stressed from work. Jack went to talk with Gabriel and he decided to only give Nikki paperwork duties.
