At the Hodgsons

Chapter Nine

Jack walked into the ensuite and greeted Nikki, kissing her on the cheek while she was in front of the mirror doing her make up.

"Morning love."

Nikki looked at him in the mirror and smiled. "Goodmorning."

"I told you multiple times you don't need that... stuff." Jack said looking at the foundation in Nikki's hand. "You look beautiful."

"Very flattering, but our little girl kept me awake almost the whole night and she's moody." Nikki applied some drops of foundation to her head and grabbed a brush blending it into her whole face.

"Yeah i've figured, she's fussing in her sleeper." Jack chuckled as he turned on the shower. "I'll have her tonight, okay?"

Nikki smiled at him while a yawn escaped her mouth.

"We don't have to go into the Lyell today, we could just have a nice day in." Jack said while stripping out of his boxers.

Nikki swiftly moved her head away from the mirror to take in the sight of a naked Jack standing next to her. Her eyes drifted down but a cough from Jack interrupted her thoughts as her eyes shot up and met his.

"Like what you see?" Jack said with a smirk, wiggling his eyebrows at her.

"Not like," Nikki replied. "Love." She continued giving him a wink.

"I know." Jack kissed her nose and opened the glass shower door to get in. He closed it behind him as he stepped into the hot stream of water. "I miss you."

"I'm right here." Nikki giggled while focusing once more on applying her make up.

"Not like that," Jack said, he grabbed the shampoo bottle and washed his hair thoroughly. "On top of me."

"Jack." Nikki looked at him through the glass window and blushed.

"What? I'm being honest."

"You know we can't."

Jack groaned. "I know, and i'm a patient man don't worry, but i can miss you alright?"

"Yes of course, i miss you too." Nikki said grabbing her mascara and applying it on her lashes.

"Good to know."

Nikki heard soft cries from the bedroom and peeked her head to look inside, to see Mila moving and crying. Nikki sighed and quickly finished doing her eyelashes. she walked over to the co sleeper and put down the rails to safely pick her up. She stopped crying the moment she was in her mothers arms. "Oh we need some attention, do we?" Nikki cooed down at Mila. "Let's go see daddy." Nikki walked back into the ensuite and saw Jack smiling at them when they walked in.

"She needed someone to talk to?" He asked Mila.

Nikki nodded. "Yes, she did." She looked at herself in the mirror and sighed. "I'm not ready yet and she needs a bath."

"Give her to me."

"What?"

"Give her to me." Jack repeated. "I read that a shower with you child is both relaxing for you and them. You also bond with them, the health visitor also mentioned it."

"You sure?"

Jack nodded. "Yes, i'm sure."

"Okay, i'm quickly going to get her out of her pyjamas." Nikki smiled and left the room.

...

"She fell asleep." Nikki giggled as the readjusted herself in the passenger seat of Jack's car. Mila was fast asleep in the carseat. "Why does she always fall asleep when we need her awake."
