Addison was a worrier and she knows it's stupid to worry about a dream but, she's swears that when she was attacked by Vicki she felt the pain shooting through her as though it was real. She was so scared she couldn't sleep. She thought it might be real, that the dream would come true. But, she told herself that she was being stupid and just tried not to dwell on it at all. But she had to. She had a nightmare that she could not forget, a nightmare that continued to linger in the back of her mind for weeks.
In the weeks since her nightmare, Addison had been feeling increasingly on edge. She had tried to tell herself it was just her imagination, but the feeling of being watched never left her. She had even started to avoid going out alone, always making sure to have someone with her, just in case. Despite her fears, she knew she couldn't keep living like this and decided it was time to take action. So she went to the one person she knew could help her, Sheila Bennett.
Sheila was an old friend of Addison's mum and had been a friend of the family for years. She was known throughout the town for her knowledge of the "supernatural". Addison had always been skeptical of the supernatural, but after her nightmare, she was willing to try anything to ease her fears.
Sheila had listened patiently as Addison recounted her nightmare and the feelings of being watched that had been plaguing her ever since. Sheila nodded thoughtfully and told Addison that she believed her. She said that she had been sensing something strange in the town for a while now and that Addison's nightmare might be connected to it. Sheila promised to look into it and do everything she could to help Addison feel safe again.
In the meantime, Addison had continued to struggle with her anxiety and fear surrounding the situation, unsure of what would happen next. As days passed, Addison still couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched. She would often catch glimpses of shadows moving in the corner of her eye and dark figures outside her bedroom window, but when she turned to look, there was nothing there. It only added to her anxiety and made it difficult for her to focus on anything else. This feeling of being constantly watched was beginning to take a toll on Addison's mental health. Along with that the nightmares had only continued, and she found herself waking up in a cold sweat almost every night. Addison knew she couldn't keep living like this - she needed answers, and fast. Addison was starting to feel like she was losing her mind.
She only hoped that Sheila would find something soon to help put her mind at ease.
...
Addison had just woke up from yet another nightmare, her breaths coming out short and harsh. After slightly calming herself down Addison lied back onto her bed and tried to calm herself down further. She decided the best way to do this was to distract herself by thinking about something else, like what she had planned for the day. She remembered that she promised Caroline that they would hang out today, so she decides to text her to confirm their plans. After sending the message, she tried to close her eyes and relax, but can't help feeling a sense of unease that she just can't shake off. She let out a long sigh before reopening her eyes and quietly making her way down to the kitchen.
As she entered the kitchen, Addison's eyes were drawn to the window. She had a clear view of the backyard from here, and something caught her eye. There was a figure standing outside, watching her. Addison froze, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't move, couldn't breathe. It was as though time had stopped. And then, with a blink of her eyes, the figure was gone, leaving Addison alone in the kitchen, shaken and terrified. Addison was too scared to move, her mind racing with fear and confusion.
Was it all in her head?
Was she losing her mind?
The figure she saw outside had only made things worse. With a few deep breaths, Addison tried to calm herself down. She couldn't let her fear consume her. After a few minutes Addison had relaxed enough to make herself move towards the living room sofa and take a seat.
Addison knew she needed to talk to someone other than Sheila about what she saw, but she was too scared to tell anyone else. She didn't want people to think she was crazy or that she was making it all up. She decided to keep it to herself for now, hoping that it was just her imagination playing tricks on her. But deep down, she knew that something was wrong.
...
Eventually the day had caught up with her and soon enough she was dressed and ready to meet up with Caroline. She quickly gathered her jacket and bag when she heard the car horn of Caroline's car. She walked swiftly towards Caroline's car after making sure her front door was locked.
"Hey!" Caroline exclaimed as soon as Addison had sat in the passenger seat.
"Hey Care." Addison replied, trying to match the blonde girls enthusiasm.
"Woah, what happened to you? The bags under your eyes are huge!"
"Just had a few bad nights, that's all. Just some stupid nightmares." Addison explained, waving them off as if they hadn't caused her extreme anxiety.
"Well they can't be stupid if they're causing you to not sleep. Do you wanna talk about them?" Caroline asked, putting the car into motion.
"Honestly Care, it's nothing. I'm totally fine." Addison said, her eyes looking out the window aimlessly.
"Ok, but only if you're sure?" Addison sent the girl a look at her question. "Don't give me that look! I know you Addison and I know that you don't like asking for help. But, just so you know...if you do ever want to tell me then I'm here to help you, okay?"
"I know Caroline." Addison told the girl, a grateful smile spreading across her face. She didn't know what she did to deserve the girl but she knew that whatever happened she would never let her go.
