Addison had never really given much thought to her future. She was always too obsessed with the past, looking back at things that can't be changed. In her eyes, the past was safe and secure. The past was a familiar friend, a friend she always knew would be there in the form of memories and stories.

Maybe this was why she had such a love for history. Through her childhood she was the girl who was always found sitting with a history book in her hands, her mind memorising the historical events she never lived through. Because of this she was always avoided by others, they found it strange how much she loved history. So, she spent most of her childhood alone with her history books and thoughts.

She never thought that she would make any friends, something that worried her father greatly. That was until one day she was asked to tutor a girl a few years younger than her in history. She agreed thinking that it wouldn't be that bad, of course the girl had other thoughts. The girl was none other than Caroline Forbes, and she had latched onto Addison from the moment they had their first tutoring session. She claims that she saw potential in her but in reality Caroline liked Addison because she didn't treat her like a child, she actually treated her as an equal.

That is what lead her to this moment, standing in the room of Caroline Forbes begging her to hurry up.

"Beauty takes time Addy!"

"Caroline Forbes, if you don't get your ass out the door in the next 10 seconds I am going to drag you out of it!"

"Addy, it's the first day of school. I have to look perfect!"

"You already do! You don't need to put on anymore makeup, Caroline. Now please, can you grab your bag and get in the car. I don't want you to be late." Caroline huffed at her words but did as Addison asked.

After finally leaving the Forbes' household, the pair made it to the high school with 10 minutes to spare. Addison turned towards Caroline and brought her into a hug.

"Have a good first day. I love you."

"I love you too."

"Hey wait, do you need me to pick you up after school?"

"I'm good. I'm getting a ride with Bonnie and Elena."

"Okay. I'll see you tomorrow then. Bye Care."

"Bye Addy."

...

Another love Addison had was baking. She especially loved when she baked with her dad, it was their thing. Ever since Addison could remember she had always baked things with her dad. They used to do it every weekend together and then they started doing it everyday when her dad finally opened up his bakery he always talked about. Addison and her dad really struggled to spend time together when she was little due to the fact they didn't like the same things, her dad loved to build stuff outside whereas she would love to sit in her room and read or paint. Eventually they discovered they both loved to bake, and so the tradition was born.

Her dad, Sebastian, had opened up the bakery a little over a year ago under the name "Seb's Bakery". He had first thought of including Addison in the name but she outright refused. Instead she had helped him design everything as, according to her dad it needed an artists touch. Addison smiled thinking about how far her dad has come with the bakery, she was so happy for him that he had finally achieved his dream. With that thought in mind she stepped into the bakery and smiled at the customers waiting before making her way behind the counter.

"Hiya dad, sorry I'm late. Caroline took forever to get ready." Addison said as she tied her apron around her waist.

"Don't worry about it kiddo, you're showed up at the perfect time. There's a fresh batch of cookies in the back that need to be decorated, they should have cooled down by now. The design is up to you." Her dad replied after finishing serving a customer.

"I'll get right on it." Addison said loudly, already making her way into the back of the bakery.

The rest of the day went by pretty quick with the familiar cycle of rolling, cutting and baking cookie dough before decorating each one with love and care. Eventually, her dad closed the bakery up for the day and told her to go home and that he'd back in an hour or so. Addison said goodbye to her dad before making her way over the Mystic Grill to pick up some dinner for the two of them. After she had collected her order, she left the grill just wanting to get home. Unfortunately, she had the worst luck because she had run right into another person as she left. Before she could fall the person managed to grab her shoulders to stabilise the both of them.

"Oh shit, I'm so sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going. Are you okay?" Addison asked in a rush after the person made a noise of discomfort.

"I'm fine and I should be apologising, I was the one who didn't look where I was going." Spoke an unfamiliar male voice, Addison looked up at the man in confusion as he stepped away after making sure she was balanced. She thought that he must be new to town as she'd never seen him around before.

"Let's just agree that it's both our faults, huh?" Addison chuckled.

"Yeah, that sounds good." The man said with a small smile.

"I haven't seen you around before, are you new in town?" Addison asked curiously.

"Yes and no. I lived here when I was younger. I just moved back in with my uncle Zach. I'm Stefan, Stefan Salvatore." He explained, holding his hand out.

"It's nice to meet you Stefan, I'm Addison, Addison Green. I didn't realise Zach had a nephew. Are staying long? " She said, shaking his hand with a friendly smile.

"It's nice to meet you too, Addison. I probably won't be staying long, just passing through."

"Ahh I see, well again I'm sorry for bumping into you. It was nice to meet you, Stefan." Addison said, smiling as she walked around Stefan to get to her car.

"It was nice to meet you too, Addison." Stefan said before making his way into the grill.

As Addison started driving home she was blissfully unaware that the interaction between her and Stefan was a catalyst that would start a chain of events that would change her life forever.
