julia had woken up to the smell of faint cologne flooding her nose. she fluttered her eyes open and took in her surroundings, trying to remember where she was. suddenly, she heard someone's slow breathing from beside her and felt the weight of a hand on her waist.

she turned her head slightly to realise she was in james' bed. it was dark because of the blackout curtains, but judging by her energy, she knew she had slept in a little. julia lifted up james' arm and moved it from her waist, trying not to wake him.

julia furrowed her brows slightly, and frowned a little at the sight of the boy that wasn't matt, that had lied next to her all night. she let herself sigh and felt her eye's moisten. julia removed her gaze from the boy and instead decided to go to the bathroom to fix herself up. she crept out quietly, trying not to wake james, grabbing her phone on the way out.

she was stopped in the hallway by a familiar face. "hey jules," ava mumbled, with what seemed to be a genuine smile. "hey aves," she replied back quietly.

julia awkwardly continued walking towards the bathroom. she really missed her best friend, but she couldn't fix her friendships when she was already struggling with the relationship she had with herself.

she set her phone on the counter, next to the sink, and pressed shuffle on her playlist. take me home by jess glynne begins to play, causing julia to squeeze her eyes shut tightly. she lets a sudden tear roll down her cheek as the sound of their song plays. what are the chances?

i really fucking miss matt. what am i doing?

matt sat beside nick by the kitchen bench, watching chris down yet another pepsi, when it was only ten in the morning.

"let's calm down on the beverages," nick says shooting his brother a judgemental look. chris ignored him at first and continued chugging it down, while lifting his other hand up and flipping nick off eventually.

"what do you guys want to do today?" matt asked tiredly, rubbing his eyes.

"we could hang out with the group again, it's been a while?" chris offers, crushing up the pepsi can and shooting it like a basketball into the trash.

matt's heart feels like it drops to the pit of his stomach at the mention of the friend group. the whole friend group? that meant julia included.

"yeah, i miss julia, kody and ava, oh my god... maybe julia will bring james!" nick says excitedly, dropping his face into his hands and scrolling through his instagram feed.

"can it not be the whole group?" matt mumbles, emphasising the 'whole' clearly.

"fuck sake matt, don't be such a baby."

"chris!" nick shouts, trying to validate matt's feelings.

"what bro? he needs to suck up the fact julia didn't want him," chris deadpans.

"alright chris, that was disrespectful," nick says gently, trying to get him to understand how matt is feeling.

"that's not even what happened chris?" matt says confused at this twisted version of his story. their story.

"look, i'm sorry things didn't work out for whatever reason," chris begins looking down shaking his head as he speaks, "but i miss my best friends, im not ditching them because you're too baby-ish to be in the same room as julia."

nick frowns slightly at chris's statement and looks to his brother for a reaction. matt had a thinking look on his face, that looked a little too sad. matt eventually throws his arms up and sighs deeply at chris.

"fine, whatever dog. invite them over then." he says stepping out of the room before he breaks down at the thought of his girl being with fucking james.

i really fucking miss julia. what am i doing?
