Mason and Olivia Lockwood, father and daughter Mason has been raising Olivia on his own since her mother died during childbirth.
It has just been the two of them since day one. Neither of them would change a thing about it either.
Olivia is for sure her father's daughter the two have a bond no one else can imagine and no one could ever break.
But when Mason gets a call that his brother had died the two pack up their things and move back to Mystic falls a place where Olivia hasn't been since she was a baby.

Mason parked at the Lockwood manor with Olivia in the passenger seat as Tyler had noticed them. "Now remember we're here for your cousin Tyler he just lost his dad" Mason said.
"Dad, I know" Olivia said. "He doesn't know anything about the werewolf curse okay so it's our job to keep it that way or at least try to" Mason said. "Don't worry dad I won't say anything" Olivia said. "I know you won't my cub" Mason said and Olivia smiled at him.
They both got out of the car seeing Tyler as Olivia got her bags. "So, the black sheep returns" Tyler said. "Tyler" Mason said once Olivia walked up to them.
"Yeah" Tyler said. "What happened to you" Mason asked. "In my mind your 12 years old playing with Olivia" Mason said. "Well, that's two years older than the last time you saw me Uncle Mason" Tyler said.
"Come here" Mason said and gave Tyler a hug. "Good to see you again" Mason said pulling away. "It's good to see you too hey Liv" Tyler said to Olivia using her nickname before giving her a hug.
"Hey Ty" Olivia said hugging back. "It's been so long" Olivia said once they pulled away. "Yeah, it has" Tyler said. "Come on inside" Tyler told the two.

"Who's the guy with Carol" Damon asked as Liz came up. "It's the mayor's younger brother Mason Lockwood" Liz said, and they saw Olivia come up and hug Carol quickly before joining in on their conversation.
"And that girl that just hugged Carol is his daughter Olivia haven't seen her since she was a baby" Liz said. "Is he on the council like John Gilbert was when he rolled in" Damon asked.
"He's nothing like John for one he's not a jerk he's not a believer either he wants nothing to do with the council he's too preoccupied finding the perfect wave along with raising his only daughter" Liz said. "Hmm" Damon said. "Thanks, see you" Damon said once Liz left.

Olivia had found Tyler sitting by himself drinking away from the crowd of people. "Hey Cuz" Olivia said. "Hey Liv" Tyler said.
"Mind if I stay with you" Olivia asked. "Need a little break from everyone" Olivia said. "Sure" Tyler said, and Jeremy walked in. "Oh, hey sorry I was just looking for the uh" Jeremy said.
"The bathroom's, down the hall" Tyler said. "Wait Jeremy, Jeremy Gilbert oh my it's been so long" Olivia said recognizing him.
"Olivia" Jeremy asked. "The one and only" Olivia said and Jeremy hugged her while she chuckled some before Jeremy pulled away. "It's nice to see you again" Olivia said. "You too" Jeremy said.
"Hey, look I'm, I'm sorry about your dad" Jeremy said to Tyler. "Today's been a big day of sorry's from people who don't really give a crap" Tyler said. "Tyler" Olivia scolded him.
"I remember when my dad died, I had a house full of strangers telling me what a great guy he was, anyway I know how hard all this is" Jeremy said.
"Difference is in your case it was true my dad was a jerk" Tyler said. "Yeah, yeah he was" Jeremy said. "I found this in his desk" Tyler said offering Jeremy some. "He won't mind he's dead" Tyler said. "Yeah, you know what sure" Jeremy said getting a drink. "Liv" Tyler asked.
"Hmm get in trouble with my dad who's also your uncle for drinking or stay alive I choose life" Olivia said. "Suit yourself" Tyler said.
Mason had walked in right when Jeremy was going to get a drink. "Hey what's going on in here Tyler" Mason asked. "Nothing, nothing" Tyler said.
"You got somewhere else to be" Mason asked Jeremy and he gave Mason the drink and left. Mason took a drink once Jeremy was gone before giving it back to Tyler who took a drink.
"So, you don't want your own daughter to drink but you let your nephew yeah that makes sense" Olivia said.

Tyler was picking a fight with Carol after everyone had left the wake just as Mason and Olivia walked in with Mason pinning Tyler to the ground and Olivia checking on Carol.
"Get off me" Tyler said. "Hey Tyler, hey, hey" Mason said. "I said get off me" Tyler said. "Tyler" Mason said.
"Get off me" Tyler said. "Look at me, look at me calm down" Mason said and Tyler calmed down. "Settle down" Mason said.

"Your mom's out" Mason said as he came back in the room seeing Tyler and Olivia. "I think she popped a couple pharmaceuticals" Mason said and sat down. "I didn't mean to freak her out I don't know why I get like this" Tyler said.
"It's the curse of being a Lockwood" Mason said. "So how did you get the chill gene or even Liv for that matter" Tyler asked.
"We didn't we just learned how to manage it" Mason said. "I don't wanna be like this anymore" Tyler said. "None of us do" Olivia said. "That's why it's a curse Tyler" Mason said.
