𝐘/𝐍 𝐏𝐎𝐕

EMILY AND I haven't talked since our "almost kiss" four days ago. It's not that we were ignoring each other, we've just been too busy to even have a conversation.

We finally caught a lead in the case so we were all working around the clock. I don't think I've had a conversation with anyone that didn't relate to the case.

The team apprehended our unsub this morning in an abandoned warehouse. His name was Jackson Watson, 42.

Based on our profile we knew he was the unsub. However, we don't have any physical evidence that he killed these prostitutes. That's why the team has been taking turns interrogating him for the last six hours, with no luck.

Tara was in the interrogation room while everyone else was in the conference room brainstorming new tactics.

"Maybe we should play on his parental issues," JJ called out.

"No, I don't think that'll work. He has anger and resentment towards parental figures, he doesn't fear them." Emily said with a sigh. All of a sudden an idea popped into my head.

"What if we took another approach? What if we made him feel in control of the interrogation rather than taking the control away from him?" I proposed. I wasn't surprised when everyone looked at me skeptically.

"What exactly are you proposing?" Emily said slowly. My heart was already beating faster from this tiny interaction with Emily. I'm pathetic

"I'm the only one who hasn't interrogated him yet and I'm roughly the same age as all the other victims. I think we can use that to our advantage." I said. The rest of the team eyed me nervously.

"So you're suggesting you slut yourself out for him?" Luke asked seriously.

"That's not exactly how I would put it. Actually, that's not at all how I would put it. But yeah I guess so," I said with a shrug. I knew this approach was frowned upon, but if it helped the case I didn't care.

"No, think of another idea," Emily said immediately. Everyone turned toward her slowly. I couldn't help but furrow my eyebrows. I was about to say something but Matt beat me to it.

"Look, I hate the idea as much as you do Prentiss. However, Jackson Watson isn't responding to any of our other approaches and our time is running out to prove he's the unsub. I really think this could work." He said, looking at Emily the entire time.

"I said no. Come up with something else." She fired back coldly. Everyone looked at her in confusion. She was never this defensive about any of our other outlandish ideas.

"Emily, if Jackson thinks he's in control, he'll get comfortable and make a mistake. The only way to do that is to give him something or someone he thinks he can control. If I let him think he can control me then he's bound to make a mistake." I shot back immediately. Maybe it was the lack of sleep but Emily's insistence on shooting down my idea was slightly angering.

"I agree with Y/n," Spencer called out although we all knew he was only talking to Emily.

"I say we let Y/n try it. I mean, what do we have to lose?" Dave said with a shrug.

I looked over at Emily and if looks could kill, then she was murdering every single one of us. I felt my breathing still. I had become accustomed to the Emily Prentiss that comforted me after a nightmare and cooked me pancakes because I had a hangover. I had completely forgotten all of that was under a layer of stone.

"Y/n, I need to talk to you outside." She gritted out as she promptly stood up and made her way out the door.

Everyone gave me looks of sympathy as I slowly made my way outside.
