Many people might think of cannibalism in distant history and undeveloped countries, but cannibalism was a feature of early American history too.

In fact, cannibalism was practiced in Colonial America in 1609. In 2013 archaeologists disclosed that they had found evidence of cannibalism in Colonial Jamestown. Proving how desperate early Colonial life had been. To be more specific, they uncovered markings on a young girl's skull that strongly indicated she had been eaten by settlers during the Starving Time of 1609-1610.
The announcement was made by a group of researchers from the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, Historic Jamestown, and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation at a press conference on May 1st in Washington, D.C.
