01: A Familiar Sight
I was jolted awake by the blares of alarms resounding around the chambers. Occasional flashes of red covered my vision but my body were too sluggish to move due to just waking up from hibernation. This wouldn't have been a problem as current hibernation chambers don't have such temporary side effects but it would seem I have been hibernating for more than trillions upon trillions of years so some components inside may have deteriorated a bit due to substances that exists outside the universe mainly void matter.
Groaning, my body's sensitivity were all over the place but that did not matter. Taping on the middle of my chest, protective armor gear collapses and encases my body–protecting me from any potential harm.
"S-Status..." I muttered out as I dropped onto my knees.
[Presently entering the planet's atmosphere, sir. 78% damage sustained to Hoxus due to void radiation. The hibernation chamber you used also sustained a considerable amount of damage, forcing unstable hibernation state. Your body condition is still weakened from the aftereffects of unstable hibernation, sir. I will speed up your recovery...] Energy came back to my body and I find myself standing up filled to the brim with energy and strength. [Recovery complete. I suggest immediate action and take extra precautions.]
Quickly, I went to the consoles, navigating and typing various commands to save Hoxus but it seems the pod's far too damaged to be able to put up any defensive measures against the impact much less stop it from crash-landing. I have no other choices left other than to use this suit.
"What's the current energy percentage for Singularity?" I asked as I hastily made my way towards the emergency door and pressed the door ejection button.
As I did so, the door tears apart and vacuum of air enters inside. [Due to the exposure to void matter, great amount of energy was used to preserve the condition of the suit. Currently, about 10% left.]
"Estimate the energy consumption if I used this suit to stop Hoxus from crashing." I look outside and was surprised when my sight was met with the clear blue skies that reminded me of humanity's old home planet.
[Calculation concludes for about 2%.]
"Right, quite enough." I nodded and jumped into the air.
I was surprised once again as I was met with the sight of green which I assume to be the natural flora of this planet. This planet seem too similar to Prime Earth...
Cosmic propulsion bursts from my feet, my hands and my back. Quickly, I flew below the falling Hoxus and position my hands to carry it. Despite being a space pod, it has 1/3 the size of a freighter so it's quite heavy not helped with the fact of the various kind of minerals it composed of. With the propulsion, the momentum eventually slows Hoxus down and a few hundred kilometers away from the surface, it completely stops. Slowly and carefully, I carried Humanity's last space pod and placed it on the ground.
I sighed in relief before landing down as the armor collapses back onto the circular trigger on my chest. "Crisis averted, thankfully enough." I look around, seeing trees and grasses that has uncanny resemblance to planet Earth. "This...of course." I nodded, finally understanding. "Looks like I'm on Earth. A different one but Earth nonetheless."
Doesn't help when my lungs feel refreshed, a clear and familiar sign. The atmosphere seems to have a balanced amount of oxygen and other gases that composed of Earth's atmosphere. Earth from where I came from was long gone after the sun expands and became a red giant and even before that, it had became uninhabitable due to climate change and the imbalance gases that fills the atmosphere.
Other home planets on that solar system followed suit so humans had to leave them all behind. If we had reached the level of civilization where we can light up our stars and manipulate the laws of physics, I wouldn't be alone but time had unfortunately ended all of them. Still, seeing this Earth in its current state, seems like the planet is still brand new. Or at least, it is more than a few trillion years old.
"Scan is must it seems, need to really make sure this is a carbon copy of Earth." I walked into Hoxus and use spare materials left to fix up important components. "Alright."
Using the Materializer, I fixed the important parts of Hoxus and power is back on. Unfortunately, there weren't enough backup materials to fix the floaters so Hoxus won't be able to be fly much less jump into other stars for quite a while. The void radiation is a foreign corrosion state that works far differently than the laws of physics I know of so I'm stuck in this planet for a while. I don't mind if this planet is Earth and if it's anything like Earth, then living here is what I should do next.
I booted up the console and quickly deployed nanosatellites onto the stratosphere. It didn't take long until it was done, the nanosatellites formed connections and patterns while using the camouflage tech as well as jamming tech to avoid detection. I immediately scanned the planet and relayed me the information.
"Hm. Alright." I nodded. "About 70% of the planet is covered with water, landmasses are of course different. Some anomalies here and there...can't see some of the activities thanks to whatever is covering it." My eyes narrowed. "A foreign type of energy, not one I'm familiar with. And it seems like this planet is filled with this energy, this certainly doesn't exist on my Earth."
I read more data regarding the new energy, it was surprising to say the least. It's an energy similar to Exchosis which enables users to perform various psychic powers like pyrokinesis and telekinesis. The thing you could do with the energy is quite a lot but of course, depending on it mainly is a grave mistake Humanity did back then. And the amount is...staggering as well.
Not only is the new energy seem versatile in its uses but it is also a renewable source of energy. And it is powerful enough to have an impact on the ecosystem and the inhabitants. Some regions in the planet have changes in gravitational fields, creating floating structures. Some weather also seem abnormal though the nanosatellites couldn't pick up any clear images due to the strange waves this energy emanates which must've caused these anomalies. And some may have been used intentionally according to the formations and readings of the energy. If I want to see it, I need to investigate it myself.
Lastly, the inhabitants. It is natural for humans of the previous age to have potent energy inside as it is what kept us ageless but that was after Humanity achieved the level of Type III civilization, the scan suggests no complex structures that requires extensive amounts of research that spans over generations. But it seems creatures here also has energy stored inside their beings which doesn't make much sense. This is the same energy that has great impacts on the planet. Again, if I want to know more of this energy, then I have to research it myself but...
I sighed, "I already decided to not do that anymore." I smiled. "I better just get some things here and leave Hoxus for a while."
Hoxus is capable of surviving the end of the universe, only void radiation managed to get it so it can't corrode in this universe. After all, it is built to survive any harsh environments so this planet wouldn't able to damage it in any way. I'll just leave it here, have the system to fix it while I'm gone and have it set up hologram for blending. One day, I might come back to this space pod but until then, I'll entrust it to the system.
"I'll be leaving for a while so system, set up environmental blending and conduct extensive resource gathering to repair Hoxus." I said.
[Very well, sir. I will be awaiting for your return.] It complied before mining drones were dispatched. [Initiating repair operation.]
I got out with some things carried and I made my way into the woods, braving into unknown territories. I have yet to meet the inhabitants of this planet but I hope it is a peaceful contact since they don't possess any kind of advanced technology so they might be primal than I thought.
Nevertheless, this'll be an interesting journey.
