2.1

Since I really enjoyed writing this story and had some ideas for changes I thought I could just make an alternative ending, enjoy reading :)

It was already getting later than usual when Eri was still sitting on the tree trunk waiting for Denji to appear. Where is he? His lessons were already over and he never needed so long to come here. Slowly she was getting anxious that he just ditched her as more and more time passed.

"So not even someone as unpopular and desperate as him can stand me..."

She said to herself as she continued staring at the lake remembering all the great memories she and her brother made here as children. Building snow men, snowball fights and ice skating in the winter, building tree houses, camping and going for a midnight swim in the lake at summer.

"I really wish you were still here with me."

After some more time passed, Eri decided to stop waiting, put on her skates and just enter the ice on her own.

"Why would I even wait for this idiot, it's not that I like him or something. Actually, I'm glad he's not here. Now I don't have to listen to his stupid whining anymore, I should have just stayed by myself in the first place."

Eri mumbled to herself as she started sliding over the lakes hardened surface trying to get rid of this heavy feeling in her heart.

"But it wasn't even me who did this!"

"It doesn't matter who it was, I told you to clean this mess up! So that is exactly what you will do right now."

"But I still have somewhere important to go!"

"You know what, Denji? Your behavior in the past days has been unacceptable, I've got so many complaints from your classmates. You will come to my office the moment you finish this up."

With that Denji's teacher left the classroom in the afternoon when everyone else was already allowed to leave. Why does he have to clean up the dirt the others left behind in the room? He told Eri he would meet her just like the days before and now his teacher ruined it. He just hoped all of this wouldn't take too long so he could still go and see her.

It was almost evening when Denji was able to leave after getting lectured for things his classmates just made up about him. He guessed Eri wouldn't wait such a long time just for him but still decided to show up at their place even if he was much later than usual. He was surprised catching sight of Eri's bag leaning against the tree which indicated that she had to be around too. His gaze instantly diverted to the lake where he spotted the girl on the ice. Watching her for a bit while she was still oblivious to his presence, he noticed how she skates even more elegant and graceful than when they first met. Right at that moment Denji realized that Eri had to be the prettiest girl he has ever seen. A perfect face, beautiful black hair, a nice body... The boy could think of a lot more things he liked about her. He really wanted her to be aware of his presence but all he could do was to continue watching her dance on the ice.

A loud cracking sound suddenly kicked him out of his trance, directly followed by the sight of Eri dissapearing through a hole in the ice that formed itself under her. For a second Denji felt as if time has stopped. He wasn't able to move at all so as soon as the paralysis ceased he hurried onto the ice not caring about the danger of him breaking in too. He was about to pull the starter in his chest but quickly realized that using chainsaws on ice would only end up making everything even worse than it already was.
